Wonder how that'd work out for the TV companies and sponsors?

It would be shit and as they dont have the money to bribe it wont happen anyway.

Brazil going for a bold 0-0-10 formation.

:gok:

Mind you, Spain won the Euros and the World Cup with a 0-10-0 formation, so why not?

I know Iniesta and Xavi played like ten men but they did have David Villa up top... Easily missed 🫣😂

Got a wee feeling USA will turn over England, 7pm ko exactly 2 weeks tonight.

On paper England has the easiest group but we can only hope.  Even Scotland would fancy our chances of we had qualified.

Anyway I will be supporting Australia and Brazil

There will be plenty of fluff tv slots about how great Qatar is and how friendly the people are.

Lots of pundits saying the same, but obviously under duress or lying.

Wonder how many pundits will suddenly be taken off air between games for telling the truth on social media?

I bet they still watch it.

My plan is to watch through unofficial channels and boycott the sponsors wherever it's feasible. It's impossible for me to boycott VISA but, getting Coke and McDonalds out of my diet is worthwhile for health and ethical reasons.

Gary Lineker has said the BBC won't be doing any 'fluff' pieces as they would normally do.

Just the football.

hope you like politics too as this world cup wont be about football woke tv companies no doubt gaslighting during coverage

I hardly think flagging slave labour, human rights and questionable values along with the process that awarded them the event is "woke".

Away from the political element, it's maybe the worst opening game ever at a world cup. All the build up for that?

It's such a weird build up, but I'm now really looking forward to it getting underway at the weekend.

I hope it's not too derailed by politics once it gets going. I'd have thought a sport where there's no openly gay players wouldn't be quite so hostile to Qatar. Maybe it's not just foreign types who need to leave the dark ages behind?

Doesn't have the feel of a normal world cup for me. Maybe the time of year or all the politics around it but doesn't have a feeling of a normal one for me. Hopefully once it kicks off it will just be about the football.

going to watch all the world cup goals from 1990 onwards this week to get me in the mood for it as its not the same as a summer world cup atmosphere wise

Asking for a ceasefire for a football tournament. Did that actually happen?  Seems a tad crass

It's actually something sports bodies regularly ask for. The Olympics ask for fighting to stop.

Unfortunately FIFA now accused of supporting Russia. With Ukraine advancing a ceasefire certainly tends to favour one side.

I was speaking to a German lad in the gym sauna earlier and he said that the pints were £36 a pint.

I haven't the slightest interest in going to any of those countries.  However, that's their laws and beliefs and are entitled to them  i suppose, but don't expect that many visitors really.  Still flabbergasted it taking place there ( for a variety of reasons) at all. Be interesting to hear the sanctimonious virtue signallers regarding it but who will still commentate and make money from it all.

Nice, will be watching that.

He might not be the best player who ever lived but at his peak I've never seen a more exciting player to watch.

Been on iPlayer for a few days now - watched it over the weekend.  What a player, but a career blighted by his knee.

Brazil are actually a very defensively solid side these days, with the defenders given the job of defending.
