Helpful to start with two home ties, I'd have thought.

Stafford McDowall in at inside centre for the Ireland game, replacing Redpath who's on the bench. I'm guessing that's because he's a bigger centre and more likely to be able to stand up to the likes of Bundee Aki.

Ben White, as expected, back in to start at scrum-half.

Scotland: Kinghorn, Steyn, Jones, McDowall, Van Der Merwe, Russell, White; Schoeman, Turner, Z Fagerson, Gilchrist, Cummings, Christie, Darge, Dempsey.

Replacements: Ashman, Sutherland, Millar-Mills, Skinner, M Fagerson, Horne, Redpath, Rowe.

Back to a 5:3 split on the subs bench. The man sure likes to tinker for no obvious reason.

Thank goodness White back. Horne simply not good enough

Good chance for some people

That sounds like it'll be more like a Scotland A team tour, I can't imagine Finn Russell and others being interested in playing 2nd/3rd tier nations. Good chance for some others to stick their hand up for inclusion in future squads though.

But I can guarantee there will be more Welsh players in the Lions squad than Scottish.

After a promising start, this game is a tough watch. Wales are dire all over the pitch. Italy controlling but not taking risks with the ball.

Italy showing impressive maturity.

They'll be disappointed the tournament is finishing.

Wales are very poor but this is history for Italy,  but they'll have regrets about the France draw.  2 wins,  a draw,  a losing bonus vs England,  lost to an exceptional Ireland.  Should have been 3 wins,  including 2 away.  They might never top this 11 point championship.

Commentator can't not mention England during this match.

The Gibson-Park offside is the sort of annoying allowed cheating.

Referee tells him he is offside but then lets him play on to win the ball for Ireland.

Just holding them at bay.  Only 1pt behind with hardly any 22 entries.  Score maybe masks it a bit.  Scotland need a lot of field position or it's curtains.

Bullshit decision - they spill it then it's offside?

That's never a try.

Though could have been given. Marginal decisions are a problem.

In what world did he have control of the ball?

Seem these given as tries.

The crowd of knowledgeable Irish thought it was a try.

Some of the players are just farcical. Feel for the better ones trying to play with them.

******* ref.

There was no advantage from that knock on on the 22. Scots play broke down 5m further back.

Fokker.

Why wasn't it advantage for us before we chucked the ball away again?

It seems all we need to do is defend fairly and its advantage or pen, every time.

So they miss the chance but get another?

I don't understand this sodding game - how did they have 3 pens and it comes back for one if they don't score.
