Scotland back in their notable, famous place within the 6 Nations.

The team Italy beat.

Since 2000, when the 6 Nations started, that is Italy's 14th win, and 8th vs Scotland!

Ref couldn't wait to call something against us in that last play.

Never a knock on.

What a country for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Deservedly beaten.

Play with intensity for a period of 20 minutes in the first half and the last 5 minutes.

Pegged back by a dreadful Welsh side, beaten by a French side who haven't given a toss in any match and now a loss to Italy. Garbage.

2 things

1. Scotland awful performance under a truly awful coach.

2. The game of rugby is a lottery when a referee decides who we wants to penalise and then just makes up rules as he goes along to suit his agenda.

No 2 out with our control, no 1 is most definitely in our control and Townsend should be sacked by tonight. He's a joke of a coach who is squandering our best squad of players for years.

Well that was effing disappointing

Does mean that the game in Dublin isn’t  the Grand Slam decider that-should-have-been though….

I know but in almost every game, that offence, swiping at ball one handed and knocking on, is a yellow card. Why not that time?

Only the referee can answer that.

What a terrible performance that was, handling errors galore and no intensity. Not that surprising tho as we are not as good as what people are making out. Only just beat a poor Welsh side, worst French side in many years beat us and we beat the worst English side in years as well. Big questions mentally should be asked how those players looks so unmotivated when going for the Championship.

Next week in Dublin was never a Grandslam decider. Scotland have now lost twice this six nations.

If we beat the Irish we will have achieved the triple crown.

Agree. We haven't progressed one bit in 10 years. Today was just embarrassing.

Don't think we would have beaten Ireland in Dublin anyway if England do somehow win. They would be unbearable if they do win though 🤦

How on earth can you possibly play as bad as that in the second half against a woeful team like Italy? Clueless, shapeless and poor game management. We do things bad very well!

Actually we have progressed a lot but to get to the next level we need a coach capable of doing that. Townsend is not that man.

It's just a side issue as Scotland were shit and deserved nothing.  But that was not forward.  We were never going to get a penalty through those phases,  short of a player being beheaded.

Impossible to be more unbearable than Ireland. At least England got to semi final of world cup, Ireland choked in quarter finals again (never won a quarter final) yet still believe they are best team in world. Thank goodness they are bottlers.

Your first point is accurate your second way off the mark Italy are not woeful.

I said at start of 6 nations that 3 wins was minimum expectation and losing to Italy or Wales should mean instant dismissal. Got lucky v Wales and got beat today.

Given job when SRU panicked after players won Glasgow trophy and they got rid of Cotter to keep him in country.

Since then, he has delivered nothing and learnt nothing.

Treated Watson abysmally, dumped Ritchie as captain for no reason, picks players for one game who disappear from next, has no idea on how to instill discipline into players as our penalty count is horrendous and relies on Russell and VDM to get him out a hole in every game.

Players have no respect for him and don't look as if they play for him at any time with our only huge turnaround coming when players ditched his tactics at Twickenham and played their own way to come back into game.

A truly awful man manager who deserves to be sacked straight away, never mind after we lose next week.

Sorry I have to disagree. They are epically bad. Along with refereeing performance, that's for another day, Italy didn't win that, Scotland lost it.

They do nothing out of ordinary, they make zero breaks, they just chunter along doing run of mill stuff and try to hang in game.

All I said was they are not woeful. I think they've improved a lot in recent years.

FT: Italy 31-29 Scotland

BBC Scotland's chief sports writer on Sportsound

The first thing we need to do is congratulate Italy - they were 12 points down and they never gave up. Let's give Italy credit before we monster Scotland.

The big picture is Italy should've beaten France, they were close to beating England and now they've beaten Scotland.

It was disgraceful from Scotland. Where were the leaders out there? Where was the control?

    'Scotland players abdicate responsibility'

Italy played well, did the basics better than Scotland did. We've got a good coach but we've got players who abdicate responsibility.

We'll be the laughing stock this weekend and this is the sad thing because Italy should be given all the credit. We played rubbish but we played rubbish because Italy played so well.

We've said we're a good team for the last eight years and have nothing to show for it.

If we go to Dublin next week and do that we'll have 40 points taken off us.

Ref has never fancied us, clearly, but I'm sure he didn't want to wake up to a horses heid. 😅

Sorry for the stereotyping but the ref got Italy over the line so **** them all.

Ireland having their season‘s quota of penalties for ruck infringements awarded against them today.

These things even themselves out, though. It‘ll be carte blanche in Dublin next week.

Best team individually we've had for years, but unfortunately the most under achieving side ever. A change of coach long overdue.

A bit of a sea change coming, England look like they are finally getting their act together after struggling of late. Scotland miss out again when arguably they should have been one of the top nations in recent years.

Truly the worst game management I have seen. I get it that we want to throw the ball around, but sometimes you just need to take control and pin a team back and make them work from inside their 22. Townsend needs to be replaced as we are just not good enough in the decision making, though I actually think he'll jack it after next week.
