In England you have to tell them your team and you can’t referee that club, as they only hire folk from the West they would struggle to get anyone to referee the uglies.
PS a conspiracy is a secret, there’s nothing secret about the bias in their favour.

Well, there is as no one in any position of power in Scottish football raises it. Even if the obvious was accepted as fact, it would be defended as being for the best. That is how deep it goes. An utterly shameless set up

I watched the game, and we did have them under pressure for decent spells.  But we didn't have a shot on target.  Hardly going to include Hearts having possession for a couple minutes then losing it in a highlights reel.

It was a bit of a weird second half and the stats don't really do it justice.  We were the better team 2nd half and that'd be hard to argue with but chances we created were more "situations".  Didn't help we had a couple of poor shots too - eg the Gino one he pulled wide first half, which I don't blame him for - a better ball in front of him, he steps on to it and is clean through.  But that top chance doesn't get much of a stat.

Stats is stats and we should have had more chances really but we did well that second half there's no denying

BTW.... not read through thread, but.... JKB

Gino is lazy

Stewart is worse then Perreira

Ahem

Everyone on here who seemed to lump on Celtic -3 pregame, hope you put the mortgage on it.

Great to see Neilson and Smith get game time yesterday too - Connor didn't get much of a chance, but I do like the cut of his jib.  Hope he's in the plans. Extremely unlucky to have a foul given against him for a great rob which should have set up a 3 on 2 (and a highlight for Sportscene!)

Hearts breaking from the middle and McGregor grabs him round the waist. Automatic red these days but no card. The stats don't lie they get away with far more than any other team out with Weggieland.

Having said that how close were we to getting something? Some on here thinking we would get done 4 or 5 nil! Without the red cards would would have held them to one - nil.

Most claim we are pant wetters when we lose but we all know we hardly get the breaks against the bigots, but still with a second string held them and competed. Time to stop giving them the respect they don't deserve.

On another point we got stuck in and hardly once passed the ball back and forth between the defense and we caused them problems, time to have a good hard look at the tactics we are employing.

Workrate shite.

Positive off the day Stewart having the best game of his life.

Still needs replaced.

Zurich game pish Celtic game pish.

2 games in a row against better opposition, and really we created no clear cut opportunities.

Big game for Robbie and the boys Thursday.

Let's see what they are made off.

You’ve managed to outpish youself with that, which is some going for you.

I was really disappointed pre match when the team was announced. It just handed the game to Celtic. Is this how it's going to be in the League games now? Before every European game we "rest" players. Neilson may bang on about the strength of the squad now but today's game should that is clearly not the case. Without McKay and Shankland we offered no threat whatsoever. There is no point in bleating about bookings and sending offs, the game was gone long before Cochrane went off. It hides the fact that if we do not play our best team against the OF in particular then we have no chance of winning. What then is the point?  McKay, Shankland and Smith could just as easiiy be injured in the  time they were on the pitch so why leave them out in the first place. Just another capitulation in Glasgow. We should aspire to be better than that.

I kinda get what you're saying here and in any other season I think this would be a valid point and I'd be equally as frustrated. I think the club as a whole, from the manager to Joe Savage to the board are seeing things differently now though.

In other seasons we have been in the same position as we have been the season before, and the season before that, going to Glasgow with a full strength side and hoping (and generally failing) that we don't get a doing. We've had the cups to look forward to and taking what income we can from those and then going again the next season against Rangers and Celtic.

This season we have guaranteed European groups stage football to look forward to, and the massive (for our club) extra income that the brings so the club are prioritising our main players for those games, rightly in my opinion. They're looking at Celtic away this season and going, we'll take a Parkhead loss again, like every other team in the league, and still trying to consolidate third place.

The club know that without consistent extra income from Europe we have zero chance of competing with Celtic. If we can get Europe for a few seasons in a row though it means we can afford a higher standard of player, and work towards taking the team that step further. Plenty folk have had loads to say about Joe Savage wanting to win the league, but I've always thought the first step towards making Rangers and Celtic even slightly nervous about a title challenge from outside Glasgow is for us to be going to Glasgow and taking points off them. The extra income from Europe will help us to get players in that will make that easier. The more times we are in Europe, the more money we will get and the more we keep improving.

I know the OF continue to generate more income (and in Rangers case, lose it all again quickly) but the fact of the matter is there is a ceiling to the quality of player that will come to play in Scotland, the better equipped we are to attract players closer to that ceiling (and in turn generate sell on fees for them), the better it is for us.

It's not immediate ambition, but it's the sort of ambition that I'm looking for right now.

Noticed quite a few Celtic fans on twitter who watched the match via a Hearts stream praising how unbiased the Hearts commentators were

sorry that’s not the way a clubs Tv channel is supposed to work

it should be very biased especially against that lot

I think some people are trying to work themselves getting a gig on mainstream tv at Hearts expense

Disagree. Hearts TV is certainly pro-Hearts but it is not blindly and obsessively pro-Hearts to the extent of distorting what is happening in the game. I like to know what is going on including Hearts weaknesses and failings. As I would if I was there.

Yup agreed, the coverage should be pro-Hearts but I also want to know when we're crap and what we're doing wrong, Hearts TV is tremendous at that !!

Some of the moon howling that passes for club TV commentary these days (looking at you Rangers) is an absolute embarrassment.

Summary:

Gave Celtic players far too much time and space but managed to gets loads of bookings for challenging them.

Our keeper had a great game but needs replaced.

Zurich and Celtic are way better than us but we should be creating loads of clear cut chances against them.

Absolutely, I agree with you.  Just mean in terms of highlights, they pretty much showed everthing that could be classed as a 'chance' for Hearts.  The rest of it was just sort of getting in to dangerous areas but not doing anything with it, which is never going to make it in to a highlights reel.

There's such a thing as challenging player's mate, we kicked everything that moved, cochrane sending off late challenge due to giving the Celtic player 5 yards of a start.

And some tried to pass it off as we played well, we were honking.

That was like a training session for Celtic yesterday.

A wee warm up for them.

I dont know if been mentioned here, but watching on celtic tv ( i know)... onr said, 'where is willie collum when you need him'

The fact, even if a joke, is that the mentality that they have refs that give them even more than they had yesterday.

Considering we didn’t have any yesterday and it’s something we needed to improve on in the first two games this is an interesting stat.

Well I just thought I would say a well done to Ross Stewart in goals who I was slating before the game as being one of the weak links in our team for yesterday's game.

He had a few decent saves and looked to hanle the occassion very well considering his lack of game time.

I also said that Atkinson and Sibbick were  weak links and to an extent they still are but I thought Atkinson did ok but Sibbick still needs a lot of improvement in his positional sense and be much more aware of the players he is supposed to be marking when playing CB.

I agree with your disagreement.

One of the pleasures of the past two seasons has been discovering how good Hearts TV is. The commentary is fair, players on both sides are identified accurately, they point out the other team's strengths and acknowledge when we've had the odd lucky break. Why wouldn't they? The commentary is much, much better than you get on mainstream TV.

Aren't St Pauli green and white?

I suspect that's the connection.

The guy was clearly struggling with his English and wouldn't have a clue about the nuances on here - give him a break.

Internationally Celtic are known for having somewhat left wing/solidarity politics, such as support for Palestinian rights and such, and Rangers are seen as a more right-wing club. From up close that looks pretty paper thin on both sides and I think for St. Pauli it's a much bigger part of their identity. However, a close friend from grad school was Kuwaiti who grew up in Sterling, and said her brother was Celtic daft in part because of that association.

Sheep following sheep mate.

None of them really understand what they sing about or show flags about other than they know it winds up the other arse cheek.

To think any of them really know what they put forward is a huge stretch.

St Pauli play in brown. They're a bit of a progressive club, and city rivals of the Hun's favourite German team SV Hamburg, who are now 2nd Division shite.

I have nothing against St Pauli and I could not vouch for their leftist credentials either way

I do have plenty against Celtic though and their transparent pretendy socialist huff is nauseating as is their insistence on latching on to other clubs that they can try and share the lime light with on non footballing matters

Celtic are a total fraud

The Celtic/StPaul’s alignment is partly fuelled by “the Hun’s” affection for SV Hamburg, no doubt.
But, as you and others point out, there’s that leftist, anti-establishment, “thing” that surrounds clubs like this and Red Star Paris (founded I think by the famous Jules Rimet).
