The basic first do no harm principle would make him 100% better than what we have and if he has some actual policies that would be a bonus. Victorian
Starmer is a bit ponderous and often allows his thoughtful style of speaking to lose the message coming over. You see it in interviews that the key points he's trying to make are interupted by the interviewer. Get to the point quickly and make sure you get it over. He falls down there. Rayner is better at it but is too 'common' to appeal to enough of the electorate. Not an election winner. Yvette Cooper is the one to take them on. More professional image and has already been in government.

Starmer as an ex DPP only offered to resign if served with a FNP because he would have forensically studied the law and knew there was no chance legally he would get one. It only got as far as it did by the continued gaslighting of elements of the press and their cultists. SectionDJambo
I think that the Conservative party should be very concerned about Johnson. He seems to think that he is the Conservative party, rather like his mate Trump thinks he is the Republican party. I wouldn’t put it past him to be planning to take measures that would nobble his successor, if they don’t get him out of No10 sharpish. He said he wouldn’t deviate from the Tory manifesto of the last election. That leaves him able to authorise policies, like big cuts in taxation, that would plunge the UK economy into more debt whilst boosting his popularity with the beneficiaries. He, like Trump, could be thinking in his own mind that he can make a comeback either sooner or later. Remember, he hasn’t resigned yet as PM, only Conservative leader. Sadly, I think this is correct. Rees Mogg and company would launch an actual coup if they thought they would get away with it. I keep wondering how low we can stoop and the Tories keep digging deeper.

But Bridgen and his erg cronies will derail that because he is definitely standing in order to get the power to change the rules in order to oust BJ. Or he was. Yes, everything about him is unique - and it seems to mesmerise posh young ladies into dropping their knickers for him.. Not sure if Svengali is an appropriate analogy for his "je ne sais quoi" powers in the bedroom department .... maybe Rasputin would be more accurate !! 😲 He's apparently spawned 6 or 7 mini-spaffers - which should be worrying in itself.
