In 1952 an Aussie beat a new Zealander in the final. Apart from that no all winners were Scottish, English, Welsh, Northern Irish and irish

Mikey1874
Good start. Brecel did okay but his tendency to miss chances hurting. 2 centuries and 97 for Si Jiahui. Plays like this he is favourite to win Championship. Still things to improve so if he can do that he's got a great future.

He's pretty special, albeit he's got some occasional daft shots in him. The overall tactical game is incomplete but he has an eye for safety. I'm firmly unconvinced by Brecel tbh. Si might not be getting as stern a test that he might expect in a World SF. The other two could clobber him if they're at 100% form.

Victorian
Brecel was hugely unlucky twice at the start of the session and Si won 3 frames. One more and he probably would have chucked it. Winning the frames before and after the interval probably restored him to the match and 3 more followed. Si evidendly prefers to pot his way, not necessarily out of trouble, but also towards a frame win. He's got a safety game but is reluctant to employ it when there's a pot on. 4 ahead but it's actually on a knife edge now. First 2 or 3 in the session critical. AlimOzturk
Gotta hope that things like this, the way we treat and support the Chinese players and if the China lad goes on to win the title, can only improve relations with China on the whole. I hope it shows we really aren’t a bad bunch. Sport has a funny way of uniting people.

Players support and enjoy playing in China which is back on now. And the best Chinese players including Si Jiahui are based in Sheffield.
