The bottom line is that these are professionals and therefore are performing based on earning their living. It seems reasonable that each will play according to their own perceived best interests. It's no good trying to play like this and not having the talent to match it. If Brecel or anyone else can maintain a career out of it then fair play. When he was told it was a sum lower than expected, he didn't play for it. He stated in his interview that the prize should be greater and as he didn't need the money, he wanted to leave the pot for someone else. The crowd were denied if seeing a 147 though... Presumably he spent his younger years dicking around (didn't we all?!), but seems to have screwed the nut now and would be a worthy winner.
