I'll take a stab at it:

1. People aren't very interested in what's happening in Australia

2. Australia has been held up as some kind of gold standard in dealing with Covid by the media when actually it's been a disaster and to highlight that highlights the media got it wrong too

3. The BBC is generally quite soft in their reporting of things and tend to avoid the more graphic nature of events in their reporting

I sense it's a lot of one, a bit of 2 and a bit more of 3. But mainly 1, people don't really care what's happening in Australia.

I’d say it’s more point 2

Decent points . Not sure I agree with point 1 though. In general, yes, if this was hum drum Australian politics or something nobody is interested. However, as we are on the way to vaccine passports too then lots should be interested. Also I reckon if this was Chinese, Russian, North Korean governments etc shooting and beating the public it would be all over the news... Points 2 and 3 I agree with though .

Although I still think one bigger reason for the censorship .... but keen to hear other views....

But the BBCs main audience isn't on the way to vaccine passports...they're merely being held in 'reserve'.

What's the bigger reason you think it is?

The UK government dont want anyone to question the vaccine passports. They don’t want anyone thinking we can fight back against this. They don’t want anyone copying these protests. The Australian government are even censoring the coverage in Australia itself, to stop the backlash spreading. The majority of the people in UK are currently sleepwalking into this, as demonstrated on this very forum... folk more worried about queues at the turnstiles than the threat of what this Passport system could become. There are no health reasons for introducing this system - if there are then they have never been evidenced or presented scientifically. The wee wicked witch herself admits that the main reason for the passports is to coerce people into taking the vaccines ... which is borderline illegal and is certainly morally and ethically disgusting.

But the UK government currently isn't introducing them 🤷🏻‍♂️

I know they've held them as an option and if they were imminent like in Scotland, I'd maybe be inclined to agree with you, but they aren't. I can't see the UK government introducing them unless they feel it's absolutely necessary either for health reasons or to make it look like they're doing something. The UK Tory party are not typically a party that supports this kind of infringement on civil liberties.

So they're censoring Australian riots to prevent people in the UK doing the same despite the situation in Australia being not even remotely reflective of the reality the overwhelming majority of the UK are living under?

I reckon the UK government would be more than happy to see unrest in Scotland with public pushback against SNP policies. I'd argue actually, it would in their interests to show more of the rioting on the BBC.

Well they are being introduced into Scotland and Wales. I personally think they will try in England later in Autumn/Winter but I hope I am wrong. Im really hoping the Australian situation will make them think twice about it now though. This is one of the reasons it is so important that people are aware what is going on over there, and indeed the other countries  across the globe that are fighting back.

Something to point out re the censorship of Australia - practically none of the footage I have seen has been from the australian media. Nearly all is from independnet phones etc. Without the general public filming where would we be? How long before Twitter try and censor those videos also?  It seems the police there are now targetting folk filming on phones. All of this just feels like, as a society, we are going backwards....

Have a good weekend .  Hopefully it won’t be your last home Hearts . It’s shameful that some fans are almost euphoric about other fans not being allowed into the stadia to watch the mighty HMFC . Sad times really . I’ll be at the match tomorrow cheering them on anyway

oh Come on. There is a country at near civil war over Vaccine Certificates and you dont think that is relevant to this thread?!

If we support this here we could easily be in the same situation soon or, even worse, nobody will fight it and we will end up like Lithuania or even China.

I'm trying to work out what you mean by the bit in bold. It looks like you're suggesting Australia is on the brink of civil war, over vaccine certificates. Is that what you're saying?

I was out and about in Sydney today, maybe not as many people having picnics as there were on Sunday last week, but then it is a bit chilly today.

In the main people here know the lockdown has been a pain in the arse, they know the reason we were slow out the blocks on the vaccination front is Scott Morrison's ineptitude as a prime minister...but they also know we are very close to beginning to get back to normal, not having lost thousands upon thousands of people to covid.

It doesn't feel like were about to take up arms any time soon to be honest!

I lived in Perth for 15 years and as you know east and west is chalk and cheese.  It is not the vaccine slowness or SM being an idiot, he was one long before Covid.  It appears it is the vaccine tactics being used that is upsetting folk.  In construction all folk to have a jab or no job.  Is that across Australia or State by State?  I know if NSW did something WA would do the opposite just because it could😀.

In WA all Health workers must have jab but we as a consultancy company who work remotely for WA Health have been told all our staff must have them and we as an employer need to show proof.  Surely that is bollocks given we are not onsite?

WA's an interesting one.  McGowan has made himself a bit of a laughing stock. He closes the border all the time because the infrastructure there isn't set up to deal with any kind of outbreak...but then he spat the dummy when Qantas pointed out they might have to can the direct Perth - London flight because nobody from outside WA would ever take the risk of booking it when the chances are they'd  not be able to take the flight because he closed the border.

Like you said though,  it's always been like this between WA and the rest of Australia.

None of this is really relevant to whether or not vaccine passports should be required for Tynecastle...I just got a bit derailed by the talk of impending civil war 😅

Well pleasantly surprised at Tynie today when there was hardly anyone wearing masks in the main Concorse or in fact most areas .

it does look like they have a cond vaccine chief in the making though . A young lad was escorted out the stadium for hiding the ball when it went into the stands . The security arse threw him out with vigour when it was really just a harmless high jinks really . Pretty pathetic . The security guard probably will be rigorously enforcing the vaccines passports next week I bet .

There was a real round of boos from the crowd about it though with various expletives shouted at the guard 😂

If you weren't bothered one way or the other why were you pleasantly surprised by the lack of masks in the concourse?

If someone chooses to wear one I can't see it makes a blind bit of difference to anyone else, even the nuttiest conspiracy theorist.

I was pleasantly surprised as most people seek to be making a sensible risk assessment  and not just wearing a mask cause it’s mandated .

I think there should be more scrutiny and accountability when statements like the above are made and then turn out to be wildly inaccurate.

Jason Leitch was predicting there could be as many as 14,000 cases per day in early September but the government's own figures show that the highest number reached was around 7,500.

That's obviously great they didn't reach 14,000 but it's quite a margin of error for someone who's playing a major role in the government's strategy.

I appreciate it's not easy but we've seen hugely inaccurate and misleading modeling from a number of people involved in the response in the past 18 months and I think more journalists should be highlighting this when it has such an impact on people's lives and mental health.

All the mainstream media have been under the same spell.

It's a bit like football  they all fall under the Celtic/ Rangers narratives with very little thought or coverage given elsewhere. It's been the same scenario with the nonsense.

Why? Usually find a trail of £££ behind their actions.

Sooner those that have been played realise it, ditch the boosters and start living in the real world away from the computer generated nonsense the better.

The mask has been the " visual representation of something to fear"

It's subliminal messaging to other people, therefore carrying on the narrative.

I mean the nonsense around masks and mask wearing when and where to wear them, and people have bought it, you couldn't make it up! Even our own government who make the rules don't follow them, what more evidence are people needing. It's all been bull!

Hand sanitiser, masks, social distancing.

Check the graph out at Travelling Tabby. His words were "We are at 6,800 so we’ll be at nearly 14,000 a week from now unless we’ve reached a peak or are heading for a peak that isn’t quite visible to us." Fortunately, the curve shallowed shortly afterwards and we reached a peak not long after that. But when he spoke, the gradient of the increase, which had been fairly constant for a while, indicated that we were heading in the region where he said we were. If anything, the main thing it shows is that the SG's modelling didn't contain enough factors and good information to make decent estimates of where the curve was going, and that's worrying. It showed that the SG had/has as much idea as any of us as to the future case trajectory. That's not good enough, imo. Leitch's concern and statement was legitimate at the time given the data though.
