Noticed on the story about Hibs new midfield signing being injured a bit about Chris Cadden (also injured). I'd completely forgotten they signed him.

How many midfielders do they have exactly? Dozens it seems, and not a single youngster good enough to even just get a few games in that area for several seasons, while we've given several chances.

And we're the club with a bloated squad not giving kids a chance?

They're definfitely rolling the dice. Lots of fees paid, some quite large relatively speaking, for the likes of Doige, Nisbet, McGennis, Mackay, Mueller, Cadden... not a lot of return so far. We achieved 3rd and were heading for 2nd under Neilson with a much lower outlay.

Comparing us with Hibs at the moment is something you should avoid…….

We haven’t finished above them since they gained promotion from the Championship. They also won a Scottish Cup in 2016.

The “rolling of the dice” has worked pretty well for them over the last 5 seasons…..certainly in comparison to our record in that same period.

We rolled the dice with Naismith….he was a disappointment overall…..certainly not worth the big wage. We also rolled the dice with Glenn Whelan…..another big wage with little return. Aaron Hughes can be placed in the same category.

We then rolled the dice with Craig Wighton……we rolled the dice with Sean Clare…..we’ve rolled the dice with McEneff.

We must have lost our lucky dice.

But it’s ok because we gave McGill a couple of games before shipping him out on loan.

Bookies have us finishing 5th well behind hibs in 4th and just ahead of st johnstone in 6th. Don't see how u can say we are heading for 2nd with this squad.  Take the blinkers off !

The last 5 years? They spent 2 of those seasons in the Championship, while we spent one. They got to two cup finals, which yes they won one of. Good for them getting their one in every 100 years SC! We got to two as well. They beat us on the way to a cup final while in the championship, and we did the same to them. We also put them out the cup in 17/18.

Position wise, we've finished 3rd once, as have they. In the other 4 seasons they've finished 1st in the championship, 4th, 5th, and 7th. We've finished 5th, 6th, 6th, 12th, 1st in the championship. So barring one aberration of a season for us that we weren't even allowed to finish, they're not as far ahead as some "hearts fans" on here like to make out. Surely with all their advantages and better run-ness they should have been much further ahead?

In head to heads during this period we've won 6, lost 5 and drawn 4. So aside from one completely untypical season for us (like theirs in 2013/14 except they've had a few more like that in recent years, unlike us) there's not been a lot in it. Overall we're better and they're shite.

They finish above us but that's OK because we've beat them more than they've beat us basically sums up your post.

Just look at the league table from around 1891 to the present day. Give you all the answers there.

5 years or 10years you pick.

I'll go for 10 years. In which case the answer to your question is yes we have finished above them recently.

Now can we go back to discussing non-Hearts transfers rather than having to read Hearts fans tell us how amazing Hibs are?

👏

Good post TJ.

Whilst we call breaking even in the derbies average and disappointing the Hibby squeals with joy and calls it borderline dominance.

Ajer is a top player. They could have signed the Croatian boy who had the same potential but they have signed a Swedish journeyman instead. I was surprised they didn’t look closer to home at souttar

This has Roy Keane, Joey Barton or Freddie Ljungberg level comedy written all over it. Massive reputation and hype and money spent - then just shite.

Starfelt didn't even make the Swedish Euros squad. And it's one of the poorer Swedish squads for a while. Ajer's way over-rated in any case, I don't think he'll be the next van Djyk somehow.

The 19-year-old midfielder leaves Old Trafford having come through the academy. The deal is reportedly worth around £750,000 and will see the player link up with Rangers' B team first before trying to break into their first-team. McCann joins on a three-year deal.

Cant wait to play in front of a full house Ibrox. Starting in Rangers B, could be a while before you get anywhere near the fist team squad.

Ex-Dundee United favourite Ryan Gauld has completed a life-changing switch to Major League Soccer outfit Vancouver Whitecaps.

Gauld, 25, has penned a three-year contract with the Whitecaps after leaving Portuguese side Farense.

It is understood Gauld will earn around £3.5 million over the duration of his deal in North America (£22,500 per week) before bonuses.

The handsome package, allied with the standard of living and growing standard of MLS, convinced Gauld to eschew offers from Europe.

Josh Doig off south and by the sounds of it £3 million plus

Only issue is where with Watford favourites along with Burnley

This will pay for the transfers Hibs have been making as well as aid Covid losses

Could also fund a move for the likes of Shankland. Can’t see that Doig is worth that sum but if that’s what premiership teams want to gamble on, it’s cheap to them.

Said it on a couple of other threads, just don’t get the hype about this player. Maybe me as I’ve only watched him a handful of times but he either got subbed or caught out positionally was my overriding impression.

Scottish cup final, caught on his heels at the goal, standing jump. Didn’t last the 90. £3m though 🤷‍♂️

No chance he’s going for £3m up front. Will be heavily weighted towards future targets.

He was statistically the worst left back in the Scottish premiership last season😂

Agree. You just have to look at recent fees for top English youngsters. All around £1.5 million give or take.

The boy must have played really well in all the non-televised games last season. Because every time I watched him he was their weak link and got subbed at the hour mark just about every game. He has a good physic for his age. Sort of reminds me of Lee Wallace but nowhere near as good.

That actually would make much more sense.

Remember someone saying months ago they were told that Hibs dont actually rate Doig that much so are trying to capitalise on the hype to move him on. And its something I cant believe, the annoying thing that Hibs are doing is hyping up their players (particularly through certain sections of the media) which means they can often sell their players for more then they are. Its something I wish Hearts were better at.
