After this year's "performance" in the playoffs look no further than the Blackhawks for false hope, heartache and vein popping frustration. :(

I like the name Blackhawks. Favouring that at the moment

If you like a team that employs sex offenders, they're for you. :look:

In other news, has anyone seen or heard from Gersh today? :jjyay:

Was at the game tonight. Some atmosphere! After the Canadiens dominated the first period (again!) the Rangers came out to play big time in the second and took control. Hopefully the Boston v Ottawa now goes to game 7 and we get some much needed rest!

I totally agree with you on your first point of the Ottawa/ Bruins series. :)

I would think more about Bruins as your choice. Cheap flights on Norwegian Air direct to Boston (?) 20 minutes from the Airport to the Garden. You'll be at the games quicker than any other NHL team. It's a win/ win :).

I would suggest going with one of the Original Six teams ... forget all those expansion whipper-snappers!

The Original Six are Maple Leafs, Bruins, Canadiens, Red Wings, Blackhawks, and Rangers. Of those six, the Maple leafs are, by far, the most pathetic in terms of success, sorta like the Hearts in the early 1950's and mid 1990's.

So, if you want a team that will break your heart, and want to avoid being called a glory hunter, the Leafs are the team for you.  I've been a Maple Leaf fan for over 50 years, which says a lot about me and masochism.

By the way, my display name on JKB is after the Canadian national emblem, not the piss-poor hockey team.

The times look like they might be a-changin' for you.

Always like to do a little playoff prediction post! So here?s my two cents for round 1?

Montreal Vs Huns ? 4-1 to the Habs :jj:

Caps Vs Queafs ? 4-0 to Washington. Matthews held pointless.

Pingus Vs Cannon firing *******s ? CBJ to oust the champs 4-3.

Ottawa Vs Boston ? The Booins to win in 6.

Brownhawks Vs Gashville ? 4-2 to Toews and co.

Northstars Vs The Blues ? St Louis to win 4-3.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim Vs Atlanta Flames ? Ducks to win in 5.

Connor McDavid Vs SJS ? The Oilers to win in 7.

Did slightly better in the West than the East

Think the Rangers v Senators series will be a lot less physical than the Rangers v Canadiens was.

The big story line is going to be how Brassard and Zibanejad perform after the teams traded them last summer. Whilst the Senators have one of the best 3 players in hockey in Karlsson I think the Rangers have a bit more depth to their lines and if they can control him I think they can win another tight series.

Would be nice for you if Kreider turned up

I see Joe Thornton played the first round with a torn ACL and MCL. Unbelievable! His knee is going to be proper ****ed.

Agreed, him and Miller did sod all but get stupid penalties against the Canadiens. Hopefully both contribute now as we can't afford to have be carrying them.

They struggled a little near the end but are the hot team right now. My daughter is in Nashville for game 6 if there is one. She's a huge Bruins fan but says they'll try to get tickets if it happens while there. The rink is in a brilliant spot. Right on Broadway. Unbelievable site even if just sitting in a bar near by.

Crosby injured :look:

What's up? Another concussion?

Just saw it, it's got to be. Looked a sore one.

No word until today. Chat it might actually be his knee after the way it buckled, after he went down from Ovechkin's high stick/slew foot (would appear that Sullivan was absolutely furious with that not being called).

That said, he went to hospital, returned and seemed quite the thing. When someone asked Crosby how he was, he smiled and gave them a wink, which isnt really what he does if he's ****ed. Then again, concussions don't always appear right away.

He looked a little groggy when the trainer escorted him off the ice.

First thought was he got a bit winded, such as he was lying when he first went down. If he's up and about already, as it seemed to be, I'll take that as a good sign at this point though concussions are funny things.

Either way, it was cheap play by Ovechkin that led to all and a dangerous (though I don't think malicious) play by Niskanen. Neither will see supplemental for it, and neither will Kunitz for his cheap hit on Oshie. Refs really lost the plot last night.

I wish they'd stop this 'put your whistles away' for the playoffs stuff. I said I loved it above but it really ****ed me off in the NY Habs series. Players getting away with shameless cross checks and slashes for 40 minutes then the most random of calls made.

The thing is you can still play like you do in the playoffs, at 100 mph, and still dont have to act like a *****. Refs are clearly mandated by the league to ref the way they do but the game's that fast now, they need to alter that thinking or someone is going to take a serious, serious injury beyond what they all stupidly hide.

DoPS is completely inaffective. Ovechkin's clearly reckless with his stick and slew foots and wont even be spoken to. Same goes for Kunitz who just walloped Oshie, just because he was within a foot.

As expected, no hearing for Niskanen.

In other news, the play, that led to the powerplay for the Caps winner - My. Word. Johansson clearly closes the puck with his hand, uses it to skate through two D men (before releasing it), then Daley brings him down. One of those things? Not when Malkin got called for it earlier in the game when it was even harder to spot.

The refs had a complete stinker, across the board last night, something both sets of fans and media are agreed on. It was up there with one of the worst playoff officiating displays I've seen since the four man system came in.

Official - out with a concussion to be re-evaluated after Game 4.

Judging by whats being said he's in a better place than in the past. Should be out a minimum of two weeks though.

Possibly. Fleury's been our best player and Malkin's production goes up when he's without Crosby.

I can see a return for the HBK line though.

Seems the NHL minimum is a week after getting the concussion. If he's as fine as he appears to be, he might only miss two games, though I'd rather we kept him out than go daft for it.

Hendricks

Absolutely crucial win for the Rangers. Came out very fast and aggressively and ended up being a comfortable and straightforward 4-1 win. Still up against it needing 3 from the remaining 4 games but I think there was a bit of a momentum shift tonight and I can certainly see us win Game 4 to go back to Ottawa 2-2. After that it would be a 3 game series and wide open.

Rangers win 4-1 again and absolutely dominated from start to finish. The last few minutes saw multiple ejections as the Ottawa team totally lost the plot discipline wise after being humped twice. Still anyone's series as 2 games if required in Canada but the Rangers are clearly the better team if they play with this intensity and offense. Game 5 on Saturday could be a war as they hate the sight of each other at this stage!

Feels like the Rangers have the momentum so I can see you progressing in 6.

Not sure who I really want to win this series though because I hate both teams

Hendricks really needs to get with the accepted programme of game reporting.

None of this reasoned informative summary pish....we want "gooooooooooooaaaallllll insert some NYR erse" or " eff off referee/ opposition player"

Get a grip...FFS

2nd Saturday running the Rangers totally blew a game on the road. To score 5 and then 4 goals and lose both is unacceptable!!  Think this definitely goes to 7 as think we fancy us to keep the perfect record for the home team on Tuesday but boy are we making it difficult. Overtime ice hockey has to be the one of the most stressful sports to watch, end to end and over in a blink of the eye. Great to watch but terrible for the heart!
