Where are they off to?

Judging by the rumours, it might be Seattle. No one really knows though. The NHL deadline for Glendale to agree is tomorrow IIRC. From what I gather, for once, the NHL wont be budging.

Well good player or bad rather than pick I should say.

It's just like the last SC win..."we" got rid of so many key players last time due to salary cap....got to trust the management I suppose...

Aye heard you cani pay your tax bill. Cheated your way to cup win. Tick tock lol.

Yeah I didn't watch it, so I'd maybe understand better if I did but it baffles me how they can trade for like the 4th pick, cause how do you know your going to finish in a position that gives you 4th pick. And if your a team getting the 4th pick u still dunno if the guy you fancy getting will be available and hasn't been chosen by another team in the first three picks.

I see the Habs picked Jacob de la Rose. Very highly rated Swedish prospect. I think there will be some that will have raised their eyebrows he lasted to the second round.

As an aside, and if memory serves me correctly, he'd played a lot of last year on a line with former Edinburgh Cap, Mark Hurtubise. :)

I'll get back to you on Hartman there KvC. If its who I think he is, he makes up for his size and is a bit of a pest.

I'll also be interested to see how the first Slovak, Marko Dano, gets on. Certainly a very decent looking prospect. Should get a chance with CBJ as well.

It'll also be interesting to see how the sons and other relations of players gets on too. Domi and Rychel stand out but there's a Bertuzzi and a Fitzgerald to think about too.

Thats the first D man, that the Oilers have picked in the first round, since 1989! :o

An excellent year, if I recall. :)

A TSN Draft Day video about Tony Hand:

http://video.tsn.ca/...0/956763/clip/0

Super short vid. Clips from the Fridge of Dreams and a bit of input from Captain Cingel.

Fortunate to see Tony in his prime and it was a joy to watch.

NB I could only get the vid to work on my phone.

Imagine he'd made the NHL. I'd love to see one Brit make it but I can't see it happening. I'll have to keep supporting Stamkos and his Scottish heritage (source: wiki)

You can support Rick Nash too with his Scottish Mum (source: Rick Nash when he told me).

There is no question Tony would have made the NHL. To be called 'the most intelligent player on the team after Wayne Gretzky' in THAT Oilers team, which included Coffey, Kurri, Messier and Anderson, shows he was some player.

Nice to see MIR get some coverage too.

What a creep.

Im surprised he was allowed on it TBH. He's pretty much been persona non grata at MIR for at least 18 months. He's a walloper of the Grade A variety too. My Dad asked him a fairly innocent question one night before a game and he let rip with some horrendous abuse, that everyone around him was like:

Some news around the league:

http://www.tsn.ca/nh...me=nhl-penguins

Komisarek, unsurprisingly, bought out by the Leafs:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=426807

DiPietro to be bought out (rumour is he might be going to Nottingham! :o )

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=426760

Big Bob gets a new deal and big raise in Columbus:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=426737

Coyotes to STAY in Phoenix ( )

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=426847

And in the most hilarious news of the day: Vinny LeCav to the Flyers in a 5 year, $22.5m deal with a FULL no movement clause:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=426805

  It also sticks them over the cap!

If he sees out the full term, he'll become the highest paid NHL player in history.

Would have liked him at MTL but he's an expensive gamble. Looking forward to seeing what happens tomorrow.

Just off to recce the Megasport Arena. Looks pretty cool.

Briere agrees a 3 year deal with the Montreal Midgets, says a number of sources.

Hmmm. Hopefully this means Gionta and DD are getting punted.

Ooft. Seguin and Peverley to Dallas for Loui Eriksson!

What you making of it ATIS?

My daughter goes to school in Boston and knows kids that know Seguin. He lives near her school. She's been telling me for months now that he's been doing a lot of "unprofessional" sportsman type stuff (lucky rich bar steward) and that the Bruins were not happy with him and had made it quite clear to him that he needed to change his lifestyle. His time in Switzerland during the strike was also supposedly a party time for him but to be fair to him he played well and was technically not under contract to the Bruins.

Bruins want to play a defensive style of hockey and he's an offensive style player. He doesn't want to have to come back and help as much as they need him to. The kid from Dallas is meant to be exactly what the Bruins are looking for in a forward. This may be a kick up the arse to Seguin but he's now went from a pure hockey city to a football town and may go into shock by the lack of interest compared to Boston. Joe Thorton did fine when we kicked his ass out off town to California back in the day so hopefully this works out for Seguin.
