What are your hopes for the Caps this year?

Not to go bust.

Seriously though, a playoff position, 8th or above. Dundee and Braehead appear to have strengthened considerably from last season. Our D looks weaker and I'm undecided about the forwards, though I'd say we look better and have more depth there. We were never going to replace Rene Jarolin but Horna could do a job and Reaney looks to be a massive step up from Zembergs. My concern for the forwards is Captain Cingy and his older legs. I get the feeling its his last season.

Looking forward to it though. When I'm off my phone, I'll post what Shuff done with their rink. There arent enough of these :cornette:

Plenty KHL games on today. Kovy's return starts at 12. :)

Is there any UK coverage of the KHL? Or is it just dodgy online streams.

You can also get the games through the KHL website, although I think you have to pay and reading russian helps a lot.

Streams. Though the quality is pretty decent.

Thanks.

Just to give a Edinburgh update, they finished with two defeats in the opening weekend of the season. On Saturday losing 5-0 in Belfast and 1-2 to Fife last night.

The Fife game was a typical start of the season affair, both teams don't really look settled or up to speed yet, and the quality was lacking quite significantly. The Caps were down on offensive power, missing 2 import forwards, and having another leave the game at the beginning of the 2nd period, and after that point looked a big toothless. Luckily the reinforcements should be here for a tough double header next weekend again Nottingham and Sheffield.

For those with GCL:

Apparently, European subscribers are getting it cheaper. To do this, make sure you arent on automatic renewal, as that will be charged on North American rates - $149.95 instead of $99.95.

I'm going to double check it first.

I've e-mailed the NHL to find out whats going on. The price just now is $99.95. I'm not sure if thats not been updated from last year or is going to be the price for this year. I wouldnt the trust the NHL at all with things like this.

Mind last year was a reduced rate for the shortened season so it's likely to be this year's price. ?64 is not bad for the season in my eyes.

Talking of eyes...

Better hope there's not a blackout this year. I'd hate to miss all those games.

Yep. That blackout was absolutely awful last year. :look:

Some interesting rule changes this year - I'd heard about the smaller goalie pads (around the five hole) but was surprised to hear about the shallower goals so there's more room behind the net.

Looking forward to seeing what surprises come out of the training camps.

Nygren, Reway and Christian Thomas have been impressing for the Habs, intrigued by Collberg and Hudon as well.

But Louis Leblanc has apparently been pish again. I do wonder if he'll be part of a trade this year.

I know there are not many Bruins fans on here but you guys should try and get hold of "Behind the B" a show that's starts pretty much 5 minutes after the Bruins lost the Stanley cup final. Pretty interesting.

Yep. 10-3 tonight?

The fans had concerns about the D and thus its proving to be. Woeful. Though, apart from a couple of players, the whole team were guff. What makes it worse is Sheffield werent particularly great. We really made them look good.

We are still waiting for an import, Reaney, to come as he's held up due to visa issues. But without a D, its going to be a long season, which after last season, would be bitterly disappointing.

As an aside, im again concerned about player safety. Some of the stuff players get away with is brutal.

Ovie has taken a sore one, stick square in the coopon, and he's off for treatment.

7 minutes in the Caps-Jets game and no fights. Preseason is usually full of them.:(

As Don Cherry has just reminded me, Murrayfield now has the team benches on the same side of the rink :wtf:

Don would not be amused hearing that news.

Looks like no dates confirmed yet but 12 or 13 episodes during the season.

Could be interesting as they'll have no control over how the team does game to game.

The Seguin management discussions were pretty hard hitting for Seguin. Pretty much called him a pussy.

Yeah, I think that was my favourite bit. That and the strength and conditioning coach going tits at Subban.
