Why wouldn’t he retire from playing to coach?

You getting mixed up with Ashley Smith-Browne?

Don't think he is ready, beginning of the end, maybe next season. This could be his last one. Don't believe 18s would take enough of his time.

GMS will take his place, cameos off the bench I think.

Boyd had a renaissance when he saw the final furlong, could easy be the same for Naismith

I think he will play another season, mainly coming off the bench.

I think if Naisy gets into good nick this summer he can still play a part in big games and off the bench.

Must be as Borthwick Jackson was never north of the border at any time as far as I know.

Got some games for Man Utd first team in the past

Left sided CB or LB so could be worth a look, and still young

Anytime I've seen him he has been pretty dodgy tbh. Good athlete, that's about it.

He was quality at Man Utd... For about 10 games... 😁

He's probably about Hearts squad player level now. Maybe a little lower.

Interesting.    Looks to be until the end of the season.    Just to get through the playoffs.   No doubts he could leave permanently after to whichever club wants him.

Still on my list I think. There's a decent discussion about Turner and what happened between him and Crawford earlier on in the thread. I've had him on my list since he had a stormer against us and as long as he doesn't have an attitude problem, he's still there.

So the last ‘ITK’ rumour we had was someone (possibly 1 of 3 tied up) could be announced by the end of next week. Who do we expect it to be? I imagine Ginnelly will get announced if anyone.

To summarise for those who don’t want to open the link......

We are looking to strengthen in defence, midfield  and attack!!!!

How Barry Anderson gets paid for this stuff is beyond me.

I think their last 10 Hearts 'scoops' have been lifted straight off the Scarves Around the Funnel podcast! Fecking dire!

As much as I would appreciate contract extensions, I do hope the 3 signings rumoured to have been all but tied up are new players. (I count Ginnelly as new as it would be permanent rather than loan)

Blackburn Rovers release Corry Evans, Charlie Mulgrew, Amari’i Bell, Stewart Downing, Lewis Holtby, Joe Grayson, Stefan Mols, Lewis Thompson, Ben Paton, Brad Lyons and Tom White.

Nobody really peaks my interest there. Holtby obviously a good player but way out of our league for wages, and he's 30.

Sign Gino, Jimmy Dunne, Luke O'Nien, Aaron Tshibola, Allen Halilovic and a striker and we're in Europe IMO. No question.

Might require some boat pushing, but these are exactly the kind of players who will make a big difference.

And his massive wage demands too .

I wouldn’t take any them! I’d put money on Mulgrew joining the Celtic take over of Aberdeen reliving the 2010s Celtic team at Aberdeen.

I see Tshibola has played for MKD. I wonder if at the same time as RN was there.

Nah nobody there for us.

Heard Mulgrew wants a move back up north but not sure what he could offer anyone other than a Livi/Motherwell/Killie. He's past it.

Yeah it was the same time as Neilson. One of the reasons I'm keeping him on my list. I'd be really surprised if he hasn't at least been considered, and I also just really like the look of him.

He’ll end up at St. Johnstone or one of the above you mentioned I imagine.

Agreed. Not good enough for Celtic and Aberdeen will need to be mindful of the age of their squad so don't think he'll go to either of those. No good to us either for the same reasons.

Doubt there's any chance of O'Nien. Arguably Sunderlands best player and will probably be looking to get a championship team.

Yip

4/5 quality players, the same number in young/ project players.

Imo, if the likes of walker, Popescu, Halkett, Naismith don't move on then they'll be our "squad" players, so either way we'll not only improve our first 11 but first 18, hopefully.

Assume Ginnelley is one, plus a midfielder and centre back.

Ginnelly, Campbell and Dunne.

That will have me  putting on a pyro display.

As much as I don’t want an overhaul every year as I think it seriously disrupts the squad gelling, I have to say I love a seriously active window. And yes, players I’ve never heard of before are brilliant because they bring endless possibilities with them. They might be crap and prove that when playing but the hope and ‘what ifs’ are what I live for, haha.

100%, but this season we do need a clear out.

Next season, If we end up around 4th will hopefully see us build on, rather than  a rebuild.

Tbh, it's something that Neilson done well in his previous 2.5 years with us, jury is now  out as well tho... as well as the klaxon!

Promotion from the championship was always going to mean an overhaul.

But ongoing......it’s crazy the average number of in and outs we’ve had since our last championship success. It’s a really bad reflection on whoever has input on the recruitment.
