Spurs being in there was the same as me walking into the Crucible and chucking 50p on the end of the table.

UEFA crushed the insurrection. But at what cost?

I think the fans have crushed it. These teams will suffer big time in the long run

The whole thing is just absurd clearly none of the super 12 did any homework ,no consultation with their own staff and fans , they were stupid not to try to get Sky onside as they sky used the full force of the media power to lead against the plan .

The Real Madrid owners comments were ridiculous and sounded desperate .

So amateur, unless it was just a dipping their toe in the water, experiment and we will see this return in a few years .

The greedy 12 have gained nothing except egg on their face .

An owner who tolerates a culture of failure meaning a manager conveys this acceptance of failure to his players and now a fan base no longer angered by failure but reduced to apathy. What a sad sorry state.

I think you are right with the top paragraph quoted but wrong within the 2nd. This will definately be on the cards again with 10yrs.

The 12 also now know where all the battle lines are drawn in regards to the fans, media, and authorities. Speaking of which, the 12 know they have UEFA over a barrel now and I would put money on the Champions League becoming the Super League in all but name by the end of this decade.

I’m not sure why the Woodward announcement happened. He was leaving at the end of the season anyway and they’ve just announced...he’s leaving at the end of the season.

This is amazing. The shortest league in history - one day. At least this year's Highland League played 3 games before it was stopped. America's most embarrassing defeat since Vietnam.

Will happen one day and as other have said it will rear its ugly head again

It seems, for now, that there is indeed a limit to the amount of greed some will tolerate.

Barca £1.2b in debt

And they both just continue to spend.

Bongo......

If the 12 teams want to break away and start a league of their own there is absolutely nothing any one can do to stop them.

Now....there may well be ramifications for entering domestic cup competitions etc but they clearly aren’t fussed.

And if a player decides he wants to be employed by one of the 12 clubs there is not much FIFA can do.....there is the small matter of the freedom of employment act that supersedes some jumped up and crooked organisation like FIFA.

UEFA or FIFA do not need to recognise this new group as an official association but I doubt the clubs will care a jot.

Oh really nothing can happen, you seriously don't know what it means when you sign a contract, take it from someone that's played a high level within the game 😉

They are registered to the FA.

Fans will always have the power over owners.

I was meaning from a legal point of view. No footballing authorities could have stopped them.

Would there have been contracts signed and stuff that legally ties clubs to this?

Interesting question. If you sign something that goes against the rules of UEFA and your own football association it is invalid anyway?
