The end of that women's race was a farce.

It's supposed to be elite sport ffs.

Changing the winner about three times before actually sitting down and looking at the photo finish is feckin amateur hour.

Not to mention giving KOM to completely the wrong rider in the Giro.

Nasty crash at 3.4km to go......going to affect the GC standings with people held up behind that!!

Scrappy day in horrible weather.

Remco gave away the lead as was planned, and didn't lose too much time in doing it, but that was just about the only plan that went to plan.

Always good to see a new name take the stage win.

Was watching this as it happened live earlier. Any news on the severity of his injuries?  Mountains start on Friday.

Cav's alright after his brutal crash over the finish line.

Andrea Vendra suffered a shoulder separation and a wound that needs stiches.

Remco is away for scans but the team say it's precautionary and nothing initially seems broken.

Not heard any other news from any of the various other people that were on the deck at various times today.

Time that the UCI changed the Covid rulings?

Don’t know of any other sport still eliminating participants for positive testings or actually maintaining that tests are required.

As soon as Ganna registered a positive result, you just knew that there would be an outbreak in the peloton.

Remember that covid is a respiratory virus and that the peloton do the equivalent of running a marathon every day, and at altitude.

How much long-term damage would they do to their bodies if they pushed through with the virus?

How would it affect their performance in the other races on the calendar?

How much suffering do you expect them to go through for your entertainment?

Do not disagree.

I suppose the old-school (a different era before the CV-19 pandemic) would’ve taken a different tact that you ‘just got on with it’. Possibly used it to their advantage that they could’ve got medical assistance to help with their ailments.

Good stage today though.

Came close to being shortened or even abandoned because of the shocking weather.

Nice wee breakaway victory.

More covid withdrawals

More wet roads

More crashes and abandons

The peloton is going to end up being about a dozen riders in size by the time we get to the end. Mental.

In theory yes, but that depends on the sprinters making it to the end of the longest stage of this year's race.

After a downright relaxing, normal day yesterday, it's back to bonkers land again for this edition of the Giro.

More riders withdrawing with various illnesses (covid, gastric, regular flu) and today's stage has been shortened due to the horrific weather in northern Italy.

I saw a good article saying that the Giro and La Vuelta should swap dates as Spain already has good weather and it's too hot by the end of summer, and the Giro is clearly still in the grips of bad weather in the high passes but would be perfect weather in late summer. I can't see the traditionalists going for it though.

Finally underway and it's total chaos!

Starting the stage almost 4 hours late and halfway up a huge climb, riders all over the place already, right from the flag wave.

This ITT is suited to all the main GC contenders who have the ability to undertake a TT but I can’t see Geraint dropping 29secs over that course.

WTF!

Reminds me of the stuffed warthog at a TdF a good few years ago. 🤪

Geraint had nothing left in the tank.

Roglic was running on willpower alone.

Magnificent sporting spectacle.

Tour de France Unchained arrived on Netflix today. Series similar to F1 Drive To Survive doing fly on the wall following the tour with access to teams and insiders. Hopefully they’ve made a good job of it.

This year the TDF can bolt, cheating and drug use I'll accept but bringing back covid tests and masks 🤷‍♂️. Hope they all get punctures. 📌

Women's Tour of the Pyrenees cancelled after the first two stages due to the roads not being closed properly and cars being on the road.

Absolute amateur hour.
