There was 44,082 first doses given in the UK yesterday and Scotland's share was 865.

Was there any reason for this?

A couple of points.

One of my neighbours felt unwell with Covid symptoms and phoned re advice on what to do to helpline. He was told to make appointment for proper test, did as requested and was given appointment in Newcastle. When he said he didn't want to travel from Edinburgh to Newcastle, they changed appointment to Dundee. He went up Tuesday. Seems strange that you can't get appointment in Edinburgh, the capital city of country.

Mother in law stays in West coast near Mull of Kyntyre. Her local health clinic arranged time for all local over 80's to come for boosters as they had done original vaccinations months back. Just before date, they had to cancel as NHS Scotland wants to send their own Mobile unit to perform boosters but as they don't have unit available, the date is as yet unknown. The management of NHS seems determined to complicate and intefere where not required with no visible benefit.

That doesn’t sound right. I’m in West Lothian and was given the choice of four different drive-thru sites to get a PCR test last week: 2 in Livingston, 1 in Airdrie and 1 in Boness. Can’t see them sending someone to Newcastle 🤷🏻‍♂️

They had 55 cases reported today, and two days within the last week with 17 cases. Unheard of up there. My first thought was school outbreaks, but this Orcadian article suggests general community infections and "winter events".

Apparently it was a close family dinner.

Can only say what guy said. He's not type to make it up and was in Dundee. Make it worse, test back and he is negative for Covid.

Why is there none on Edinburgh though, doesn't make sense

Probably because England is so far behind with the doses while Scotland is running out of people to jag. Or it could be SNP BAD if you prefer

I think he’s having you on or did something wrong getting the booking. I decided on Tuesday I should get a test and was concerned about availability. I went through the website 3 or 4 locations were available in west Edinburgh. I chose Napier as I knew I could get parked. There were about 140 appointments available all day Wednesday when I booked Tuesday pm.

there are clearly not “none on Edinburgh”

Why would I be having you on? It wasn't me, but you decide for yourself. It really doesn't make any difference to me one way or other.

I said he’s having you on, but your right it doesn’t make any difference. But you asked why there were none in Edinburgh which clearly isn’t the case.  This kind of misinformation puts some folk off getting a test if they think it’s going to be difficult of they are going to have to travel a distance.

folks, it’s easy, go to the website, put your postcode  in, choose a location, get a test (if you need it)

Was in the ingliston vaccination centre yesterday it was deserted. Is really any need for something that size now ?  Seems a bit ott.

Lucky you , 5 off us went out on Tuesday for the booster jab, all 5 of us who work together in pharmacy had booked times one after another .

Got there only to be told that every booking had been double booked so it was now a case of first come first served. After an hour and fifteen mins waiting we got taken .
Hall was bloody cold , lots of elderly people cold and a fair bit pissed off as some had been there 2 hours plus .

Gets to the nurse who tells me and my daughter were getting the Modena jag . I asked why as we had been told when booking  it was to be the Pfizer as per our first two jags , the reply , that was done yesterday it’s a different jag today but it’s the same group .

No reaction to the Pfizer jags from me my wife and daughter previously .

Wednesday night night my daughter was was complaining of headache, muscle pain , hot and cold sweats .

My wife has a hell of a rash on her arm and a very sore arm pit

Me , I’ve had the sweats and slight headache .

Our first two jags were at the WGH and was excellent , Tuesday was an absolute shambles , suppose two out of three isn’t too bad

No idea what they hope to gain by lying on here when a 2 minute search shows them up. When my wife got a positive lf test a couple of weeks ago I went on to nhs inform and had pcr tests booked for both of us for the same day 5 miles away, with a choice of times.

Why would I lie? What on earth have I to gain? I have vaccinations, follow all the guidelines and do what they ask.

I could just as easily say you are lying. Instead, I say well done on getting appointment.

Why would someone with an obvious bias against the SNP go online and lie about something that makes the SNP look bad. Mystery eh.

I've just had a look on the ScotGov page about it and when you click 'book a PCR test' it actually takes you to the UK gov website...so not sure how that tallies?

Do they really expect people to travel to another part of the country just for a test ?

What if you don't drive and can't afford the travel expenses ?

We went for a test earlier in the week at Edinburgh and we were the only car there.

To be fair a few weeks ago before visiting the elderly in laws we decided to get tested before we travelled. Couldn’t get a test anywhere in Edinburgh for 2 days. Managed to get a walkthrough appointment at Tynecastle but I think sometimes anomalies like this can happen. I was at the vaccine centre at ingliston the other day and there was hardly a person in the place, I questioned the point of the place. Someone posted saying they were there the day before and it was queued out the door. Not idea if the story you commented on was true but it doesn’t mean he is liking just because it sounds unlikely.

I suppose it's a lie that they're making the elderly and infirm travel to ingliston to get their boosters

Yup, I agree with this. My parents had their two Covid jabs at their local surgery, as did all over 80s in our area. It worked well, and that's how they should have done it for the booster too. The guys in charge put efficiency before the actual people involved, imo.

My 92 year old ma got her flu jab at the local surgery and was asked if she wanted her booster in the other arm.  It could be that is not the case everywhere but seemed sensible to me if they had the vaccine and had the person in front of them to ask.  Fife though and we have never had any problems with anything to do with letters, vaccine appointments, jabs etc.  As I say guess it may not be the same for others in other areas but no complaints here in relation to our health services.

Yeah, the 53 year old neighbour was making it up and travelled to Dundee, just for a laugh.

You need help.

No, I think you're making it up.

Tho, my boy's lives in Erkine and got a vaccine appointment for his first jag (back in whenever) for Easterhoose. Just phoned and changed it for Johnstone, quite easily.

Folk getting angry and all defensive because someone said that their neighbour had to travel for a test.

I suppose it's a lie that they're making the elderly and infirm travel to ingliston to get their boosters

Free taxis.

They should actually do the jags at the bingo. Wouldn't take long. :)

Well, you are wrong. Why on earth would I make it up? There would be no point.

went to the local hospital for my booster in a tent yesterday, not nearly as exciting as my first at Lords (not a cricket fan by hey ho) and second at Westminster Abbey - definitely something in providing  the vaccines at venues that motivate folks to take part, particularly with these boosters where the perception is they are not as necessary as the initial regime.
