JudyJudyJudy
My friend got results of his PCR test and it was positive . He thinks he caught it at his gym as he noticed that most of the goers don’t wear masks etc . But who knows . He is fine now . He had runny nose last Monday and but since then he is fine . So I Assume he probably contracted it last Saturday or Sunday if he started showing symptoms on Monday / Tuesday last week ?

The Cheltenham races, the Liverpool game, Johnson wanting the Indian trade deal have all been swayed in favour of delaying shut downs and jeopardising the lifting of restrictions. We are now suffering from another of Johnson’s delays.

Footballfirst
The supply of vaccines remains an issue regarding progress towards vaccinating all adults. The weekly allocation of vaccines from the UK procurement services to Scotland was only 116,550 in the week to 21 June. That is well below what the country needs to hit its target. Let's hope it rises again in future weeks.

What actually are they? I didn't see many restrictions re parties and gatherings as I walked home from the West End on Friday evening. I think a lot of people are ignoring them now. The only ones suffering appear to be businesses.

Brighton Jambo
Does anyone know why the numbers are so bad in Scotland. That’s not a loaded question but a genuine one. Looking at today’s numbers our figures are miles above where they should be proportionately against the rest of the UK. What am I missing why are we so far ahead in terms of infection rates? Therefore why give permission for them to have an untried vaccine ? Yes I know all about herd immunity etc and more people vaccinated means less hosts for the virus 🦠 but children have perfectly healthy robust immune systems which is clearly evidenced by the minimal deaths of people them from it . The Govt is playing on parental fears and it’s shameful really . As for schools , keep them open all the time , if there is an outbreak in a class ,, test the kids in that class and if positive they need to be sent home , like we got sent home with nits . It’s a small price to Pay to keep schools open as children need them open for a wide variety of reasons Think you're downplaying or are ignorant of the impact of covid in kids. Clearly they are less at risk but we should still be trying to mitigate them getting it whilst minimising the impact on their education i.e. improved ventilation in schools. As for vaccinating kids, as a parent I'd veer towards giving the vaccine once approved but understand other parents not feeling the same and not wanting to. https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/19374217.long-covid-children---worried-parent/

Check the stats regarding child deaths of those under 16 . Most or actually all had serious underlying health conditions .

There's a long covid kids website and long covid hubs which treat kids, recently set up in England, so it's not quite as straightforward as saying kids don't die, therefore they are fine. Post-viral conditions are nothing new but giving it a label - all the rage these days are labels - has just fed exacerbated the national paranoia with Covid.
