Good to see the debate maintaining its standards on here.

JKB should've had Zoom chats during lockdown. But this is acceptable entertainment too in its reading.

The live bands should be starting this weekend at my holiday park. Some normality at last.

Football fans allowed back in next month in England,  yet we've been told to stop training by order of Sturgeon and the SPFL up here.

Pub crawls about to be banned as well I think. Whilst reiterating you should be going out very often.

Another cheery message from the FM.

I'm leaving in 5 minutes for Northumberland. At least I'll have a cheery 2 days :D

I have it on good authority that Sturgeon researches which parts of lockdown easing are most important to the yoons and then she clamps down on them for maximum nippiness.

She's like one of those old calvinist ministers who can't wait to rid the nation of any semblence of fun or joy.

"Ye are all sinners in the eyes of an angry covid God. Eternal hellfire awaits for ye drinkers of pints and followers of Hearts."

She won't be happy until every day in Scotland resembles a Sunday in 1700's New England.

I remember in the early days there was a theory (based on some statistics of the prevalence of the disease in smokers) that smoking might actually offer some protection against the virus. Haven,t heard any more till now.

Thats true. Yes its been very quiet about that now.

Still to see if the hundred+ new cases in Aberdeen will lead to further deaths/hospital admissions. Usually takes 2-3 weeks.

Yes i agree , Time will tell. If anything it should happen in next week or so.  What happens if there are none though ?

I'd never be off the phone. There's a bottleneck in the street outside my window and I regularly see people getting within 1m of each other if a car comes...albeit very briefly and the do try to stay are far apart as possible by the looks of it.

Then Aberdeen comes back out of lockdown I'd guess, assuming cases stop rising.

Yeah but where is the cut off point when it is agreed that the virus is now dead in Scotland.  I would assume no infections for a week or so ?  Just interested in peoples views regarding this..

Bickering aside. We seam to be getting a handle on this virus thanks to better understanding of how to treat it and the majority of people following the rules. If we stay the course and ignore the psychopaths and deniers then we will be able to get back to as near normal as possible. Idiots will always be idiots and spread the virus. Others will do it inadvertently.
Hopefully a successful vaccine will follow in time.

Infections have been quite high in recent weeks 65 new infections in the past 24 hours.

To claim that we are “virus free” as a nation, I assume we would have to be in a position where there had been no new infection for a significant period of time ( maybe a month or so).

It's a bit like speed limits, generally people will follow the rules with a little deviation here and there. You will always get someone doing 100 mph on a country road.

We will never be virus free. You have to remember the tests only confirm someone has the symptoms of covid not that they actually have it. Chances are they have the common cold.

If showing symptoms, you go and get tested, results will confirm if you have Covid or not.

I'm fully awake...what's happening here?

There have been no deaths in Scotland for weeks and the pandemic is effectively over. Testing itself is flawed and the so-called small 'outbreaks' reflect past coronaviruses (colds) similar to Sars Cov 2, not a spreading infectious virus.

No need to be offensive. Debate the points if you want and provide evidence that I am talking crap if you can. Alternatively swallow everything that you are being told by the nats and the media and sit back and watch the economy go down the pan and unemployment go up to 5 million.

Today, 65 confirmed new Covid-19 cases in Scotland and you deem it to be a non spreading virus, I don't think there is such a thing.

It's not so much the number of cases James as, is the virus weakening? If increased cases are just leading to no or very mild symptoms and hospital admissions are not going up then we would be getting a stage nearer Phase 4 imo.

They have tested positive for a coronavirus not covid 19. In most cases this is not a virus present at the time of the test but something they have had previously hence the reason they have no symptoms.
