My main concern is defence, huge holes through middle last couple of games. also height advantage Sevco have at set pieces. Defoe is a class player. But I would love us to score first. Defoe has 12 league goals which is exactly the same as Morelos with comfortably less time played. In fact I just checked and he's on a goal every 69 minutes in comparison to Morelos on a goal every 84 minutes. The lack of Morelos doesn't mean in any way shape or form that they're easy meat who should be beaten. Personally I feel the lack of Tavernier may be more significant to them but even at that this is a side who could field a second string every week and still take a top two spot. If Smith is fit With our extra width and threat up front I wouldn’t be surprised if we started him and the new Barnsley lad as a midfield 2 With Donis Naismith Washington as an attacking midfield 3 ahead of them - essentially attacking midfielders/wingers - and Boyce our primarily striker - that’s a potential tasty, fluid, pacy And technically proficient front four that would give Rangers problems. with additional width from Clare and Garuccio pushing forward. This is the reality. All of them will as likely as not be beaten when they too face Rangers. In the circumstances taking anything from this game has to be viewed as a bonus. You’re right. At least we’ll hopefully see how a Hearts team that actually has a go at them gets on for the first time since 2005-2007, the Championship and the Robbie and Cathro games. When we have a go at them we actually have tended to do quite well - but through gritted teeth I recognise they are a pretty well oiled machine under Gerrard. We have the added element of surprise now - Gerrard won’t quite know what to expect. We’re not fully up to speed but he won’t be able to predict much other than we’ll be in their faces. They are not a good side etc etc. Think most are approaching it with hope rather than confidence but all things being equal you're obviously right. To take something from it they're going to have to be off the boil and Hearts hitting top form. It's rare for them not to score at least one so taking something will probably require scoring and everyone knows the problems with that recently. Which raises the next issue. They don't concede much to the extent that they have the best defensive record in the league. It's a tall order.
