Steven Naismith could be bad for my health.  I am very strategic and like 2012 have bern planning to have one Stella per goal plus one at half time.

The team is normally announced around 40 mins before kick-off.  If Naismith is in it, despite my best intentions, I'll probably have about 10 Stellas before the kick-off.

Just read online that Norwich have now officially released him, will we announce the worst kept secret prior to the final?

I cannot possibly see him making the game this Saturday.

At best, it will be on the bench but he's going to be seriously unfit.

On the bench this is a gamble worth taking. He’s experienced and savvy enough to maybe last half an hour/45 minutes and could just make a telling contribution without having to run himself into the ground. If he can make it - have him in the squad. Could be the genuine difference in winning the cup.

Let's be honest, a half fit Stevie Naismith is still probably a bigger asset than a 100% fit MacLean..

If we are drawing or a goal down, I think he would be an immense lift for the players and fans with perhaps 25 mins remaining..

I don't think he'll make it, but there's a wee glimmer there that we're giving him as many days as possible to prove his knee could stand a brief run out.

I believe that if he’s available for selection, he should start the final. At least if he breaks down, you can sub him. What's the point bringing him on later, to then break down, and have to sub a sub.

If he isn't fully 90 minute fit, we might get a good 60 mins.

I very much doubt it...but fingers crossed

Another point is we need our very best from the start. We can’t hold anything back. The game could easily be over last 20 mins if we haven’t given absolutely everything. Get him on. A nice enough distraction for them to focus on.  mulraney maisey run, cut in, goal. Job done.

They only need to bust a gut for 90 minutes not too much too ask from professional footballers is it?

Naismith was poor when he came in from Norwich to start with and drastically improved when he was up to speed towards the end of the season, also with his injury record it could backfire spectacularly.  Saying that I’m a gambling man so I would also have him on the bench to utilise if it’s tight with 20 mins to go as it would also give the players around him and support a massive boost.

He had a good pre-season and has played 19 games this season.
He came back into the team last time without any reserve or bounce game.
His experience and football brain will se him through, I hope he plays.
This "match fitness" is overstated. Especially with Naisy's quality, brain and organisation on the park.

By the looks of pictures on social media of them training in the last month or so he has yet to even train with the squad.

I bet he hasn't trained with the group since his injury and they aren't planning on not doing so until pre season. Instead, they are putting in extra rehab and fitness work.

Maybe the media were allowed to take photos with the proviso that Naismith was not shown in any of them

What a buzz it will be if hes named on the team sheet at 2pm on Saturday!

It would result in a few people leaving a sticky mess in their lucky cup final y-fronts.

Is first 6 months last season at hearts I would contradict your "match fitness claim.

He was far better player start of this season than end of last and I would suggest that was down to getting a pre season in after little game time at Norwich seeing him vastly improved player this season

I would have thought Clare, would benefit from this also. Hopefully we start next season with both firing on all cylinders and on fire.

It’s  not the club that saves the money, it’s SN who makes money as a released player getting a payment while unattached.
