A 3 year deal will take him up to just shy of 36 years old. Two bad injuries suffered this season and neither from player contact. It’s a risk, especially for the money involved in a long contract. We can’t afford £5k + a week for a coach. You just need to look at Berra. Tied up for another two years and is arguably slower and less flexible as a result of his injury.
