Souttar & Uche out for 5/6 months

We assembled a pool at the start of the season and are using it to the full. We have sufficient strength in depth to get through this.

If we did a Leicester and played 11 players all season, how would we have kept the whole group positive.

Cover is there ready to step up to the plate let’s see if they rise to the challenge!

North Berwick Jambo

Its not great news but we will manage just like we did when Berra got crocked & Lafferty left. We have so many options all over the park with plenty decent players chomping at the bit for their chance to start. I ain’t panicking ?

FAO of any interloping inbred halfwits from Leef.

Yes, we're gutted. This may put the brakes on our title charge.

Rest assured though, these injuries won't stop us absolutely feckin' destroying you lot in the derby in a few weeks.

FTH

I'm not to concerned defensively, but we're asking alot of Naismith and McLean up front until January. I think we need to get Clare involved ASAP.

Berra was out doing a bit light jogging today. Could still be a while away but good signs.

I said at the time to my dad he is such a pro and athlete I'd expect him back quicker than expected. If we get him back in it helps.

But naisy and McLean are talkers and good leaders on the park so all is not lost.

I suggest we recall Keena until January!

Get Clare fast tracked to fitness and Bozanic ready for first team action.

Dic and Dunne centre half with Harring as cover!

Naismith shifted forward a bit with McLean and Keena as cover.

I reckon we’ll now need to settle for the double, treble looks in doubt?

Massive blow but our 2 best performances this season were without big Uche. Home to Motherwell in the cup and 2-1 against st Johnstone which could've been 5. Also Clare will feature tomorrow as stated by levein in his full press conference.

The push to get Souttar caps to raise his value has backfired.

Uche was injured from the Motherwell game, whoever made the decision to let him play at Ibrox is clearly at fault for this worsening of the injury. CL said we’ve finally got to the bottom of the problem, why was he played when they didn’t know what was wrong.  Here we go again with the injuries, the squad did a full preseason so that excuse is out the window, there’s a problem at the club somewhere.

It will be interesting to see what team CL puts out on Saturday.

Can’t believe this news aaaahhhhhhh

big big blow to lose big Uche we are a different team with him

Tragic ?

We were certainly a different team when we blew Motherwell away 4-2 in the cup and played the best passing football we've played all season at home to st Johnstone. Big blow yes but once you sit back and think about it not the end of us competing not by a long shot!

Samuel Camazzola

I've not been through the eight pages of this thread but assume Caulker's name has been mentioned? As of last week he was still unattached and would be a great addition to our squad even if Berra and John were fit.

Big blow. Now we will learn about the depth and quality of this squad.

Was really looking forward to seeing how the wee manky mob dealt with Big Uche’s presence in the derby. Oh well. A naisy/Maclean/Lee/Haring quartet will have to take care of business ? ♥️

For Saturday, I would go with:

Bobby

Garruchio -LB

Haring/Dikamona and Jimmy (CH’s)

not sure about RB given Smith is suspended

Lee and Djoum - CM

Mitchell LW

Morrison RW

Naisy and Maclean AM/CF

it will be tough to lose haring from CM role but he was brought here as a CH so it stands to reason he should fill in for Soapy. Although maybe Dikamona could slot in at CB, allowing Haring to stay in midfield.

Still confident we can get the 3 points on Saturday (the wife is a ?, so we had better or she’ll be unbearable).

Correct! Can't believe the excitement from jambos when our players get called up to that shite. Griffiths pulls out to concentrate on his match fitness well we should just tell them to gtf in the future!

Just heard on the radio driving home, what a crap piece of news. Hope the guys make a quick recovery. All the more need for a swift return from Christophe now too.

Your midfield looks awfully light...If we have to drop Haring back it would make sense to choose one of Lee and Djoum and put Bozanic in IMO...

Heard we are looking at trying to get Darren Bent in on a short term deal. Currently without a club. Stumbling block will presumably be wages but you never know.

Speechless. What a complete disaster for the season. With Berra out already literally 2 of the 3 next most important players now Donald Ducked for such lengthy periods is just a complete nightmare. Not that we were ever challenging for the league but this will really hit our chances of competing for 3rd too. I hope we look at the out of contract players available, if nothing more than to give everyone a boost after this kick in the stanes.

On a side note this is typical of Levein’s luck throughout his entire career. Seems the football God’s will never allow him success.

What’s gods plan here exactly ??

:D As the thread descends into a religious argument...

One of the ways of resigning yourself to something bad happening is the old saw "Everything happens for a reason". I've oft times used it myself. This is just the religious variant of it. Uche must be pretty pissed off at the moment - let's just let him handle it in his own way.

Not sure lashing out at our players being picked and playing for Scotland makes any sense

no matter how poor they are.

Indeed. If we're going to build a team of players who are good enough to be internationals, then we have to take the chance that they may injure themselves on international duty. That's the way the cookie crumbles. Of course we could get round that by only signing players that aren't good enough to play for their countries... ;)

This is just horrific.

FFS remember the fuss from Motherwell about their poor keeper's injury at the hands of big, bad Uche.  He was straight back in the team and Uche's played one game since and is now out for 5-months!  Un****ingbelievable!

You'd have to wonder how it’s taken 5 weeks since that incident to ascertain Uche has such a serious injury and what further damage he has done in that time. Not a good look at all for our medical team.

I'd like to think that there are questions being asked as to why / how this wasn't picked up sooner.

Sounds like it took them a while to go to a specialist because normal treatment didn't appear to solve the problem. Unless you're going to have specialists on call all the time for every single injury, this is how these things normally pan out.

Did you miss CL saying for the last year that Souttar should be in the Scotland squad? Has the plan to bring players on and sell them passes you by? CL believes international football and caps are more relevant than they are, look at this team of Internationals Doyle/Struna/Alvonitis/Hughes/Oshiniwa/Tzolis/Kitchen/Bauben/Gomis/Watt/Sammon. Souttars  mistakes in the game against lowly ranked Israel show he isn’t quite ready to play at that level even against a poor team. He then gets injured in that game so I would say thar backfired wouldn’t you?

An absolute disaster regardless of the size of squad.  Top 6 and ahead of Hibs build for next season must be the plan now.  I really feel for the players and the management.  What a massive kick in the baws this is.  People need to remember this though if things do start going breasts skywards.

Are the doctor and medical team that we employ not specialists is football injuries, if not get rid of them. They couldn’t diagnose an injury again and allowed him to play a game that clearly made it worse. The medical teams record recently is extremely poor and is/has cost us money.

Also the fact that Levein is personally friends with Souttars family and they totally trust him, he’s not going to turn round to him or them and tell them to tell Scotland to bolt and forget international football.  He has vasted interests which include bringing players in and getting them to perform at the highest level they can and preach that for us in the future.

The over reaction on here is borderline hysterical.

I expect it from i8 etc but some need to get a grip.

This is why we have a squad. It’s far from ideal but we’ll get by just fine, just you watch ?

Of course that’s all true, but it’s backfired upon us on this occasion. I couldn’t care less about the national team and we have suffered badly on this occasion,

There are specialists and specialists. You move up the chain depending on the ability of someone further down the chain being able or not to resolve the issue. In this case, it appears that Uche's injury was not evident without the issue being moved up the chain. You don't fly in Dr. VogelSang from Zürich, the hypothetical eminent expert in foot injuries, every time someone at the club injures their foot.

You also don’t tell the boss that once again you can’t diagnose an injury and a real specialist will be required because you’re not up to it. Did they ok him to play against the Huns or did CL over rule them, either way it doesn’t reflect well on them.
