Never achieved that level, but knew them all quite well.Alastair Hood had a good career and was a really nice guy.  Most of them had some Junior or even better records.

Here's another picture of the police team. Think it's early 60's

As a teenager I worked in Cockburn Street and can remember getting irate one morning when my bus was stuck not far north of Cameron Toll. Didnt know until I got into the office that this was the cause of the hold up. Very sad event.

Wanted to say thanks (again) for all the recent pics that folk have posted.

Probably oxygen for drunks who've just hiked up Wardie Steps after a few too many in the Wardie Hotel public bar.

Niddrie/Bingham tunnel.

One night two of us stood on that bridge and watched a bunch of guys break into a van in Bingham when they headed for the tunnel we decided to grab them as they came through. My partner got across the train by jumping on the c onnector and  I crawled under it. I had just got through and my feet just clear when suddenly the wagons were shunted. Ten seconds earlier and my legs were gone. Stupid is as stupid does.

We got the guys and the furniture they had stoln from a furniture van.

Is this Craigmillar Castle Road?  If I mind right, I think someone earlier in the thread said it was a dual carriageway at one time.

Bernard Street

Junction of Bernard street /Baltic St / Constitution st ?

If so building on the right would be the now gone leith assembly rooms . Building to the left is where the Corn Exchange bar was , poured my first pint in there at 5 year old to two CID officers that had come in early to ask my dad if he’d seen a guy they were looking for . Where the chimney is is where daltons was/is and across the road there was a car sales showroom , Harkess maybe ? I remember as a wee boy getting taken into the assembly rooms for my lunch when on school holidays ,mutton stew then  custard as thick as tar , lovely to eat .

Good spot. Certainly looks like it is wide enough.

The hill shape and the building circled.
