Can't work this out at all ... is it meant to be at the Cowgate/Pleasance or HS/Jeffrey Street?  Or somewhere up the street, perhaps opposite Boyd's Entry?

If it is Saint Mary’s street the photo must be taken from the Cowgate/ Pleasance/Holyrood rd junction .

Catholic Church to the left out of shot ?

You sure, got it from a website saying it was around...I think Potterow?

Think @Maroon Sailor was joking with regard to a picture he put on a couple of weeks ago, that turned out to be Bo'ness and not Edinburgh!!

38-41 North Bridge

This one is puzzling me. It must be the old stone North Bridge, which the current one replaced in 1897, but where?

The sign on the left of the building gives directions to Milne Square,  which doesn't exist now, and those steps up, in an area where you'd probably expect everything to go down, are strange.

Thanks, but that's just confused me more, with odd and even numbers being on the same side. :D

I noticed a Cadbury sign, and checked them out, hoping to narrow the date down. No use though,  as they were formed in 1824 too.

Thanks a lot mate. I'd assumed it would be at the other end of the bridge .

No problems with grid locked traffic in those days.  Hardly changed apart from the cars.  Really interesting.
