If Edinburgh as described in another thread is a garbage dump not the description used, is this an example of former neatness.😃

Not sure if the Joke Shop was literally a joke shop or metaphorically a joke shop 🤔

I looked at this picture and was sure it was Niddrie Mains Drive at Wauchope Avenue, but the shops seem to have changed, but by the look of things so has Niddrie. When I look at it I veel I should be putting the hat on, and heading out to see what new thing is going to happen. Many happy memories.

On their way to Tannadice iirc. Arabs v Monaco UEFA Cup 81-82. Utd won the first leg away 5-2 with Jambo legend Eamonn Bannon running riot. Monaco won 2-1 at Tannadice and went on to win the French league that season

Making a rude face? Has to be a certain John Winston Lennon photographed in 1952. Apologies if there’s already been 100 or so replies on this but I’m catching up on this thread. Nothing happened for months then it’s gone radge 😂

Hope so! I know there’s a few photos on the Scottish Football of Yesteryear group on Facebook. Frank Kopel‘s widow posts regularly on there

Thank you.

1960 must have been close to when they were demolished.

Here's an earlier photo showing the same part of the street, notice the 2 light coloured window frames and another one a couple of doors down.

The Brooke Bond Tea sign in the bottom photo is to the right of the lorry cab roof sign.

That has to be Traquiar Road East looking up the hill to Pinkhill Station in the distance on the Corstorphine branch line. Another line killed off by Beeching in 1967. I was only 4 when it closed but know the area well
