Actually smiling at this. Absolutely f-ing bonkers the whole thing.

The worse part of it is that it didn't have to happen.  There was only a minority wanting to leave the EU but successfully campaigned and aligned with the right politicians to get what they wanted.

What can be done to reverse this madness as no Tory is going to do it and Starmer isn’t up for it either.
There  is more pain to come once they fully implement the Oven Ready Deal.

One interesting news story about the extent of the Government's failures. UK workforce numbers unlike the rest of Europe hasn't recovered to pre pandemic levels.

I read an argument this could be due to failures and backlogs in the NHS with people remaining unable to work due to ill health. And not just Covid.

Parliamentary review into Johnson has started. So more to come on what the Met didn't do.

Spaffer tells the liaison committee that 'as far as he's aware' no government business was discussed with the KGB colonel.

Just like there were no parties.

If there were, all rules were followed etc etc

Also why did the Police not break up the parties at the time, did they allow criminal behaviour

i.e. they got him pissed and can't remember anything (IIRC there were photos of him in a dishevelled state afterwards).

Tbf,  nobody would expect him to be chaperoned by civil service or security staff at an event where he was being furnished with the company of a high class escort lady or two.

And nobody should really expect him to remember with crystal clarity what was discussed with any passing KGB agents.

Full probity at all times.

Boris once stood at the dispatch box and called Jeremy Corbyn “Vladimir Corbyn”…

It rings even more ridiculous now than it did back then.

Boris has also said that “as far as I’m aware” he didn’t discuss government business with the ex-KGB agent.

That is conclusive evidence that he did discuss government business with the ex-KGB agent.

Outright criminality from the Junta.

This is the background to the Owen Paterson nonsense.

Aye but Starmer's got a knighthood man.  "As establishment as it comes... " apparently.

Away from Planet Whataboutery..

The Lords could be heading towards 900 members after Spaffer pays his friends and the leeches who enabled him.

So they're deliberately going to pass illegal laws then just wait for people to take them to court?

And, in other news, the Culture Wars Secretary, Nodding Dorris, has made a plaque dedicated to Cecil Rhodes a Grade 2 listed monument. :cornette:

Where is that?

There was a lot of noise about an Oxford college and its statute of Rhodes. As far as I'm aware, the noise died down and the statue is still there.

The latest Procurement guidance for ministers published this week.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-ministers-on-participation-in-commercial-activity/principles-for-ministerial-involvement-in-commercial-activity-and-the-contracting-process

"Ministers who are MPs also represent their constituents. If a Minister wishes to introduce a local supplier to Government, then a declaration of interest can be recorded and the Minister can excuse themselves from future decisions related to that supplier, should they be involved in a future procurement."

Note the "can", not "must".  The guidelines also appear to encourage ministers to have an active role in procurement rather than limited to just civil servants.

Now that I've learnt (this week) what 'pegging' is, I imagine it to be the sort of activity that goes on at a Tory function such as this. No spiking required.

So our minister for culture has stepped in on behalf of colleagues to whom she kowtows to slap a protection order on a plaque at their alma mater despite Historic England (who know a heck of a lot more about culture than that thicko) saying it isn't all that important?

Par for the course.

Oriel College still proudly displays Cecil Rhodes in a short list of notable alumni whilst choosing not to mention Sir Walter Raleigh, Rachael Riley or Gina Codangelo (Matt Handcock's squeeze). I don't think they're sorry at all.

Good oh Joanna won’t be supporting any non legal independence as a QC then

Look closer to home when it comes to actual facts.

Look closer to home to one of your own when it comes just not being in the real world of UNPRIVILEGED individuals like GPs .

And really look closer to home in this SMACK down reply to one of your own by a overworked and underpaid NHS GP.

Good on Esther McVey for having not one ounce of empathy or real understanding of her 12 years of TORY underfunding of the NHS.

For someone who appears to look intelligent in your posts you do look like one of your own.
