I can see a seat in the Lords on the horizon for 'services to the country' Dame Dick's appointment was extended by two years despite a hatful of calls for her to be investigated/disciplined or similar for incompetence. If she manages to get this to go away completely, that lordship must be in the bag. 14 hours ago, Savage Vince said: I watched a clip of the interview with the single mum and then watched the footage of the creepy Tory boot pretending to cry earlier this afternoon again to cheer me back up. ❤️ She's awful, isn't she? The tears don't do it for me, though. Here's the story as I see it. 1. There was a party downstairs at Boris & Carrie's. Of that, there is little doubt. But let's pretend we follow the Tory Story: 2. There was no party. It didn't happen. #10 have been fully compliant with their own advice and regulations all along. There is nothing to see here. 3. Allegra and a handful of others, including Johnson's current SPAD, had a jokey session 'pretending' to prepare for a press briefing where they might be asked questions about a party which, we've already established, didn't take place. 4. A video clip of that jokey, spoof press conference is released to ITV and, all of a sudden, Johnson is fuming about it. 5. Stratton resigns due to the 'shame' she 'feels' over the content of the video. She wasn't ashamed at the time but she's ashamed at having been caught out. Now, there is no logical link between there not being a party and resigning from a £100k+ job over a video where you're joking about a party that never took place. This leaves only one conclusion. There was a party and the leaked video of people very close to Johnson joking about there having been a party has exposed that there was a party. Still no real reason for Stratton to resign - her job is to create the smokescreens that cover up for Tory behaviour (although has she ever fronted a Downing St press conference??). So she's resigned despite having done her job as expected? She may have been paid off under a compromise agreement in the hope that it quietens the noise on the issue. R4 had Sajid Javid on this morning repeating the lines about having had assurances that nothing untoward had gone on. He couldn't explain why he trusted those assurances. They're all ffff'k'nnn at it.
