Kinkster
I just think you will be throwing good money onto bad. I couold easily afford quite a few shares but am out. If/When Vlad pulls the plug, he will ne laughing at the 1.75 million he squeezed out of the fans. I think we should call his bluff and see what develops. If we go down the Rangers route then so be it. I think we should save our money for the fight aterwards. Agree. Wait for the hobo jibes in a bit. I'll find money now and then I'll find it again in future if I need to. I reckon lots of people will feel the same way. It's maybe not the most sensible financial decision I'll ever make but it makes a hell of a lot more sense to me than most other things. If it even helps a little bit then I'll happily do what I can. It doesn't have to be an either, or. It can be both. I'll be donating.

What is this "more" that you want Geoff? Either put something in, with the full knowledge that you are getting nothing in return, except maybe, just maybe still having a team to support...You can "donate" via JKB or do it on your own. If you aren't going to that's fine but we have been given a route by the Club to hopefullly help the club survive...we are not investing in a FTSE100 company so spare us the dramatics. You're in or out..... Edited: perhaps too smartarsed at the end

I want a team to support as much as anyone else but the point is that Vlad is now quite categorically stating we are not his plaything anymore. Therefore, that should change the structure of decision making at the club. For 10% of the club, therefore, there should be a fans' representative on the board. As for money, I will donate something to the JKB fund. I could buy the full whack of 1,000 shares but I am not going to do so because we are acting like panicking headless chickens rather than thinking rationally. It's the Club that I support that my brother, dad, grandad & uncles have supported and more importantly the Club my daughter supports and loves (despite her irrational liking for Man U), rational thinking has hee haw to do with it, it's not a rational decision to part with ?11, ?22 or whatever via JKB or the ?110, ?270 + via the Club, you do it because if you don't and we go the way of Thirds, you'll have that on your conscience (well i would). Look, I am not opposing an emotional investment at all. All I'm saying is that I think we should be demanding more in the sense that the people you are entrusting with this money do not have any kind of track record of spending it well. THAT'S my point. At the end of this, successful or not, Gareth will still be the club chairman and can spend that money in any way he sees fit. That's my fundamental issue. PS My background to HMFC is irrelevant in this. All I'm saying is we need to calm down first rather than throw things at each other about the need for cash. I hear (see) what you are saying, but, the offer (or whatever you want to call) it is there, we aren't in a position to call shots - you choose to "invest" or not and as I said and I'll repeat it, IF we were to go to the wall and I did nothing, no matter how small, then I would feel that I had let down several generations of my family both past and future...I am also of the opinion that you are more easily able to disregard this element....and in saying that I'm not having a pop. Maybe I am, maybe I'm not but then I don't feel we are about to go to the wall like you are implying. I do believe UBIG have fecked up with bad decision making and cashflow everywhere is poor for that reason. However, if I needed cash I would be disposing assets. Vlad's supposed valuation of the club is hilarious for that reason.

Floyd
I'm with Redm on this one, I'm investing my cash out of emotional attachment and what the club means to me rather than anything else. If it all goes breast skywards in the future and I haven't done my bit then I will spend my entire life regretting not doing my bit. If on the other hand I put my cash in and it still goes breast skyward then at least I will know that I tried.

That the 90% will roll over? We have squandered a lot of money in the past, few will question that, but, as the debt is broadly the same as when VR came in, one can say it's his own money he has wasted. During that time we have won 2 cups and had some decent times during the bumpy ride but the fact remains we are still here after 7 years, which was not a given at the time. You have put forward several reasons, pointing out the obvious, that it is a poor business investment. You have said you'll put some money in but not the ?110 because of the way the club is run. Either way many people don't give a hoot what you're going to do but whatever it is please just do it and let others make up their own minds. You have put forward several reasons, pointing out the obvious, that it is a poor business investment. I don't think I ever said anything about the business investment aspect of it but I don't think anyone would say it was a good one anyway. Ulysses
The debate about whether or not buying shares is a good thing is a debate well worth having. But not here. There are other threads for that purpose. The purpose of this thread is to make members aware of a facility that JKB is putting in place. So please feel free to comment on that, or discuss it, or ask questions about it. But posts debating the HMFC share scheme itself are off topic and will be removed.
