periodictabledancer
Currently exploring my own family's links to the USA and came across this in Waterstones. Turns out the Scots weren't always the angels we think , particularly in the slave owning parts of the Carolinas and their impact on the native peoples of Canada. Early days but fascinating. I'm not sure anyone now thinks the Scots were angels. The number of black people with Scottish names is remarkable until you think of the reason for it. I probably rate it as my favourite post-apocalypse type book for that reason. Just ordinary people trying to survive. No outrageous heroics etc, just real. Might have to reread it after this one. Its been a while.
