Recommend both.

Read an excellent book called “Whatever Gets you through the night” by Charlie Higson.

Although he inexplicably crowbars in clunky , expositional cultural reference the story was brilliantly told.

Loved the first half and thought I had found a new SK that I liked. Then the second half kicked in and it was plain stupid. yes a fairy tale

I'd have to agree. The build up was excellent. Not sure if I liked how it finished.

I've started reading his latest novel. A collection of short stories.

Excellent as ever, follows the early days of the Greek state, now onto the sequel Empire.

Just finished reading this, followed swiftly by the sequel. Based loosely on historical actions, around the formation of the country Switzerland.

That was exactly my view of the book, too.

Empire By Conn Iggulden Excellent again

I've just about finished Stormbird and very impressed.  I tend to read a lot of fantasy.  On the basis that the whole Stark (York) v Lannister (Lancaster) Song of Ice and Fire feud is loosely based on the War of the Roses, I thought I'd give CI a go.  Will definitely be adding his other stuff to the tbr pile

Don't know why I persist with her. Probably because they are predominantly set in and around Edinburgh but you can see the outcome a mile out.
