I now actually usually check on this thread to see what to watch.

So I watched Warrior after seeing people give it good scores.

7/10 - Predictable, but still pretty good.

Pan's Labyrinth - 9/10 - Spectacular film.

senna 9/10

a great insight into ayrton senna and the rivalry between him and prost. the guy who led the FIA balastre seemed like a dictator and appeared to have helped prost win some of his championships. watch this film if you are a formula one fan as if you aren't it might be a bit boring

Memories of Murder 8/10

Korean film about a group of cops trying to catch a serial killer in the 80s.

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance 7/10

Another Korean film, part of the Vengeance trilogy, probably the weakest of the three but still well worth a watch.

Batman Begins 8.5/10

Beezer, and I usually hate super hero/comic book films.

The Adjustment Bureau

Disappointed really. It was full of uninteresting characters and the ending was very predictable

5/10

Re-watched The American last night, having been quite mixed on my view of it first time round.

I was right but a bit harsh about it. I still think it's well shot, with the right tone and pace and Clooney is superb as ever, but the signposted ending/coda isn't as much of an annoyance as it was first time around. What does still hold it back for are the basic characterisations and lack of subtle depth.

7/10

Super 8 - 8 - enjoyable Spielberg film, not much more to say

Transformers 3 - 4 - quite guff tbh

Hangover 2 - 7 - Ronseal

Captain America - 6/7 - decent-ish as with Thor basically a way to set the scene for the Avengers movie and make money at the same time. The biggie is next Summer

Donnie Brasco Director's Cut - 9/10

Pacino making a fantastic performance, yet still manages to be upstaged by Depp.

The Ides of March - 8/10

Really enjoyed this. Some people may think its kinda slow, but feck them.

Miller's Crossing - 8/10

Fantastic film again. Just watched it as I got the 1080 version.

Burke and Hare - 4/10

Pretty pish, even though Isla Fisher is in it.

Un Prophete - 9/10

Cracking film, if you haven't watched it yet, do so.

Agreed on these, seems I have similar tastes so I'll need to check out Miller's Crossing and The Ides of March.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 2)

Well, disregarding the few tweaks used for dramatic effect, I thought it was fantastic.

Commander Harris

Hugo

Absolutely beautiful film, I highly recommend it. It's also one of the few 3D films worth actually seeing in 3D - best argument for 3D (something I'm not a big fan of) so far.

Super 8..

8/10

Thought it was good. Could almost sense Spielberg influence all over it....the last of his Sci-Fi trilogy?

What with Close Encounters and ET...?

Brian Whittaker's Tache

Bought a LoveFilm sub yesterday so sat and streamed movies all day.

Watched,

Grand Torino - Great movie, Clint's last big role in front of the camera 9/10

Hurt Locker - Seen it at the movies a few years ago and it's still edge of the seat stuff and only a bit "isnt USA great" which is the usual for a war movie.

Animal Kingdom - Brilliant Australian drama, little known cast and a directorial debut but well worth a watch.

Secretary - Maggie Gyllenhal getting a spanking can only be a good thing!!

Get Smart - Dinnae bother!
