Rudolf's Mate

Watched Antman now it's on Netflix. Very good fun.

It's my sons fav film and one of the few we don't groan at when he puts on yet again.

Moonlight

7/10

Poor winner of best film Oscar film but better than La La Land I suppose. Black boys life story told over 3 chapters.

X-Men Apocalypse - contrived story (old powerful bad guy gets woken up and is not happy) but I was quite enjoying it until they chucked in a completely ridiculous musical number in the middle. 5/10

77 Minutes - terribly made, exploitative documentary about a mass murder in San Diego in the 80s. Awful (the crime and the film). 2/10

Birth of a Nation

7/10

True story of one a slave uprising in the Deep South, led by a slave called Nat Turner who is used by his master to repress fellow slaves and eventually rebels. Reminded me of Roots but didn't have the same impact.

Collateral Beauty - 10/10

Honestly nearly turned it off after 10 mins. Most likely strike a chord with some but beautiful film that puts things into perspective.

Watched this on the back of RM's review, great film, really enjoyed it.

Killing ground. 4/10

Australian film about the attack of two separate groups at a remote lake.

It's just plain nasty and unnecessarily violent.

Dagger Is Back

Brian Clough - I Believe In Miracles 10/10

Fascinating story and a must watch. Couldn't take my eyes off it and for once the phone stayed off.

Cloughs man management, the match footage, Forests rags to riches story and the Scottish influence make it unmissable.

Had forgotten how important a player Kenny Burns was.

The Full Monty

Seen bits but first time I've watched it from start to finish. Easy to see why it was such a popular film, great characters and great conversations throughout

Baby Driver - 8/10.  Really stylish, great soundtrack, good action and weirdly original despite having a lot of nods to older films.

It's good. Hard to be overly critical about it, it's pretty lighthearted! It's very different from previous Spider-Man movies, but good that it doesn't cover old ground.

Also watched Baby Driver.Brilliant. 8.5/10

Spider-Man Homecoming 7.5/10

Enjoyable enough, some great Computer Generated Imagery.   Not convinced it was as good as Toby Maguire's Spider-Man.

As Good as it Gets (1997)  9/10

Watched this for the first time in years, and it was even better than I remembered.

If anyone has missed this I highly recommend that you try to catch it. Jack Nicholson gives a masterful acting performance and Helen Hunt is also top drawer.

Yeah great movie, can't believe I hadn't heard a single thing about any of them before. Full credit goes to RM for this bud, I had looked at it quite a few times and I think it's one of those that I would have never ended up watching. Just the fact that he gave it such a good score though, I thought I'd give it a bash and so glad I did. Glad you enjoyed it :thumb:

I have watched a fair few based on recommendations from here so keep firing them my way.

Seems you and RM seem to have a similar movie taste to myself.

6 weeks holidays will see me watching a fair few over the summer holidays.

Did you get around to watching 'Pandora' a Korean disaster movie. They always tend to overact, but I quite like that about their films. It's fantastic, but you better get your tissues ready

Well, that was a thoroughly brilliant recommendation mate.

Thought I would struggle with it however Jae Hyeok had me in bits at the end when he was speaking to his mother via the tv on the bus.

Genuinely brilliant film and thought the pace of it was superb.

Foxcatcher - Slow-burning but ultimately a brilliant film.

Yes this was a great film with great acting from Steve Carrol and even Channing Tatum. I also loved the great Vanessa redgraves brief scenes. She really is Britains finest actress. Her scene when she shows her disapproval of wrestling and calling it " low brow" is outstanding.

I went to see " The Mummy" as my mate only likes these type of films...High octave daft films. It was actually no bad and dunno if people are aware but its only ?5.50 at the odeon wester hailes for most films. Plus if you save your tickets from your last two films you get to see the next one free.  PS Cruise needs to hang up his " action man" roles..hes gettng long in the tooth
