You know something, why don't we just do what we have been doing, which is winning, they are no great shakes and I honestly think if we score early (unlikely) and the bears get on their backs, we will win this.

We have the best team/squad that will arrive here, so let's do it....

It’s a tall order but I think we know you need to get 2 in front, like at Parkhead.  Or the classic late goal to get in front with much less time for them to comeback.

Being 1-0 up you are always open to that horrible nicked 2-1 defeat with a helping hand along the way from the officials to get their noses in front and get the job done.

However, has there been any other time in recent history, given our form , to ask for a bit belief in ourselves and bring a fearlessness about us?   We’ve went into these games before with blind faith, with not as good a team and still expecting something. And that looks a bit misguided now.

We aren’t the finished article but there’s no point in doing a bit shouting about how we’ve got levels to go based on strong performances to then turn up and not show our teeth.  It’s going to be tough but all the more reason to show what we’re made of.   If not, it’ll be very disappointing.

Hearts will be running the gauntlet as usual v the OF.  On one side you've got N Walsh, on the other D Robertson  and in the middle Rangers.   Need to get focused early, disciplined, give them a hard game.

I don't need to say too much.   I'm sure the players know they should've won last time but for a poor decision that let them back in.

Was hoping for this. Took a sore one in Perth, if connected.

Hope Tavernier has been eating without washing his hands etc etc .

I know it's weird but I think Hearts chances of winning are bettered by Barrie McKay not being available.

They haven't had an outright lead in the league for a long time, we can maybe expect that to lead to some jitters. Scoring first would definitely test resolve and character

We don't have the defenders for this against quality teams. All of Kent/Rowles/Kingsley are vulnerable to through balls - Rangers goal at Tynecastle last time out a perfect example.

I expect a repeat of Celtic Park tactics - 3-5-2 / 5-3-2 depending on phase of game.

Was just about to post similar

Through balls are our weak point

Rangers have done us a few times with this also Motherwell last week

We need to keep these gaps shut

Yep it's weird but it's based on never having seen him do anything of note against them previously. A guy you really want to show up in these games just doesn't , strangely.

    Kingsley Kent Rowles

Atkinson                        Cochrane

             Beni     Hof

                  Fraser

        Shankland Vargas

Hearts probably have to sit back this game, so three at the back makes sense. Forrest is solid but I'd slip in Vargas for some energy and to scare Rangers about giving up too much room.

If things are shaky, good to have Forrest and Devlin available quickly off the bench to calm things down.

I think if Hearts get to half level, Rangers are in danger of a meltdown second half. Heck of a lot of pressure on them. Hearts have nothing to lose.

Agreed.  I think we missed McKay early season in certain games when we were struggling to break teams down.  But we don’t miss him when we play Rangers or Celtic or probably Hibs too. He just doesn’t show up in these games despite all the talent he has.

Yeah I agree. McKay definitely didn't take any part in our win at Parkhead earlier in the season.

I think it will be this but with Forrest starting instead of Vargas

According to my betting pals Hearts are 9-1. I'll have a couple of quid on that and put it on Hearts v Celtic.

Last 4 games walsh has reffed with rangers, they have failed to win 3 of them, winning the LC semi against us, of course

They've lost points against celtic and the sheep

Sure there's a loss with robertson as ref too recently

Disagree! He's grabbed a decent amount of goals recently and any time I've seen him looks a key man for them

When was the last time we won at Parkhead and Ibrox in the same season?

I'd guess at 1985/86 season.

For beating them both in Glasgow, we won at Ibrox and beat Celtic at Hampden in 2012.

Zero chance Forest does not start.

playing him in his most effective position on the left wing will give their captain something to think about and hopefully stop him getting forward too much.

I did a quick check but could have missed some. Only post-WWII seasons I could find were:

1985/86 (that season included our first away win v Celtic for 16 years)

1959/60

1957/58

1946/47

Since beating Rangers in 1975, we've managed just 15 away wins against the Old Firm in nearly 50 years.

He came on with about 20 minutes to go when we were 2-0 up, so you’re close, he didn’t contribute much to it. Your point is?

I can’t think of one good game he has played against Rangers or Celtic, can you? I like McKay a lot bit he’s pretty much a man down in these games and I’m glad he won’t be playing tomorrow, more chance of a result without him.

My point is in reply that he has contributed nothing in these type of games. He clearly has,he came on and done a job in our win at Parkhead. He played well.

It's a weird post having a go at a guy who is out injured and clearly won't play tomorrow.

Cantwell out for them, not sure if a good or bad thing but always seems to come up with moment for them. They are now a well drilled, functional team with some good players but they dont really have anyone who worries you ala Morelos and Kent. Tavernier penalty is about the main worry we should have.

Just read that. He's one dirty diving Hun but a decent player when he stays on his feet.
