Home draw would have been plumb bit that's maybe as best we could have hoped for.

Difficult game today to negotiate first.

Morton away. I will take that. Shame the heated balls were kept apart again.

Was hoping either Old Firm would be away to Killie or playing each other

So, we're at Morton, and The Vermin are out.  Both, hopefully, of course.

Nice.

Away to Morton in the quarter finals if we win against airdrie.

Celtic and rangers also kept apart.

If we're not winning the cup, we need the Huns and Tims to win it. I'd have been happier if Celtic drew Aberdeen.

A great chance for us to go back to Hampden. Two tough ties of course but it could have been a hell of a lot worse.

Come on Hearts. Hampden and Europe please.

So the draw being prior to the match has potentially helped us, being number 2.

Same, maybe 40 years, Sandy Clark's debut. I think.... Hearts won 2-3 and I rattled my knackers off a pole on the terracing...

It galls me to say it but our smelly neighbours to beat the huns 🫣- as long as we beat airdrie. Would want them in the semis!!!

When you look at draw The Old Firm will be on Viaplay and if Beeb take two games we will be on that.

I was there, had a pint in the pub at the ground, the Norseman I think it was.

He has undiagnosed issues with his leg muscles mate. His case is with genetics right now. He couldn't walk after his swimming lesson this morning.  Never seen him in so much pain but it has subsided. Was almost an A+E job.

Appreciate the message 👍

One of my earliest memories in 1977following Hearts as a 13yo 5-3 defeat to a Andy Ritchie and Mark McGhee led Morton

Carnage on the terracing, My abiding memory being a Morton skinhead resplendent with crombie  DMs and braces trying to face up Hearts fans and this old guy chucked a full cup of boiling bovril in his face..

If not the oF playing each other then surely we should want to play one at Tynie.,.,.,if any  team aspires to win the cup then we full well know that it is long odds on that they would need to play/beat at least one of the OF at some stage - so it is far better to be at home rather than in the weeg ?

I’d expect it to be:

hearts

Aberdeen

Celtic

rangers

in the semi finals.

if we don’t win the cup we reluctantly want rangers or Celtic to win it.

Aye that game burned itself into my noddle as we went there and got a pasting. Morton ran rings round us and MM/AR were brilliant. Big crowd too.....5-3 and could have been more

I'd take that every year mate if it meant lower league opposition until the semi final.

Here’s the thing. We would all love to win the Cup, but that’s an outside chance in any given year, and unless we screw up royally we will finish 3rd. Assuming we do, we want that to be good enough for guaranteed ECL football, which will only happen if the Cup is won by us or one of the arsecheeks. So it’s actually in our interest for them both to make the semis.

Yes, actually. Maybe not any more, but there was a lengthy period in the 80s/90s where they were never drawn against each other at the SF stage. Happened far too often for it to be entirely down to chance.

Rangers got Uefa Cup ties the other side of the Hibs quarter final so could impact their team selection.

If that's the case I would suspect that was down to the "luck of the draw".

I don't think for one minute that in my lifetime (I'm 53) the draws have been rigged. Each to their own though.

There was a marked change when we moved from behind-closed-doors cup draws at Park Gardens to live televised draws.

I’ve mentioned this before, but there was a very good sports journalist called Sandy Sutherland who had a weekly piece in one of the Sundays called “Sutherland’s Statistical Sidelines” in which he drew attention to anomalous sports statistics.

One week he examined the probability of Rangers and Celtic avoiding each other in cup semi-finals as frequently as they had done in, I guess, the post-war years through to the advent of televised draws.

The odds he came up with were either in the tens or hundreds of thousands to one  against, I can’t remember which.

In other words, the draws were fixed.
