Scotland batted first. Made 318-9 from their 50 overs.

Here's hoping the bowlers do the business.

Oman need 321 to win. Hopefully Scotland get few early wickets to dampen their batsmen.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka get 325 against Ireland so not far behind them and appears we have decent target

Scotland win comfortably and go through to super 6.

Next up Sri Lanka which will be by far the hardest game so far.

A win against them, and it will be difficult, would be important as it carries points forward and would make super 6 much more palatable.

Scotland win and qualify for final play off group "Super Sixes".

Scotland will play Zimbabwe, West Indies and Netherlands. Oman and Sri Lanka are the other teams.

You keep the points and net run rate for games versus other Super Six teams.

So currently its at

1. Zimbabwe 2 wins

2. Sri Lanka 1 win

3. Scotland 1 win

West Indies v Netherlands tomorrow and Scotland v Sri Lanka Tuesday are effectively Super Six games.

England’s women played really well and have a solid chance

2 down for 59. Could be close finish but they can't afford to lose any more wickets tonight

We know the story of how the Ashes came into being...so why is the England v Australia women's game being referred to as 'the Ashes'?

Just because it's England v Australia?

Who knew.

They just explained it on their live text of the game where I saw it. So they did take notice of you.

Winning the test gives Australia 4 points in the multi format series. Because Australia hold the Ashes they need 8 points to retain them.

They now play 3 T20 games then 3 50 over one day games. 2 points per game. England need to win 5 to avoid Australia retaining or winning the Ashes.

Unreal performance from Netherlands. Score 374 to take west indies into super over, score 30 off the over and cruise to win. West Indies struggling to get through to world cup now.

Hopefully we do same to Sri Lanka tomorrow

Hopefully the Windies are punted after cheating us 4 years ago.

Amazing from van Beek. Scored 30 them stopped W Indies scoring then took the 2 wickets.

Here's the finale.

Very hard game tomorrow. Sri Lanka playing well and have excellent bowling attack. Scotland need to be at best but here's hoping

7 down for just over 200. Their bowling attack worries me though. It's strongest in competition, imo, and we can't be chasing more than 250.

Will be best ever win if we pull it off.

Really decent performance from Scotland in the field. 246 is definitely achievable and we’ve got a cracking record batting 2nd in ODI’s over the last couple of years.

Sri Lanka crawl to 245

would have taken that when they were 203/4 with 11 overs to go.

Very true.

Still think it's a tall order for Scotland though. Could see us being all out for sub-200.

Good first 5 overs, awful since then. No chance of coming away with the win here.

Turned it on to check the score. Another wicket gone. 100-8. Jeezo.

As I feared, Sri Lanka's bowlers are top class.

Nothing to fear from Windies bowlers though as they aren't in same class.

Still, super 6 is where we needed to be and we are there.

Aye was always going to be a tough ask once they got into it.

Starc in for Boland, no surprise there. Big toss to win for England and they'll fancy their 4 quicks getting early wickets on a pitch that looks extremely difficult to bat on. Only thing is it looks like being overcast for the whole 5 days which could make any run chase for England a real challenge. That's my somewhat less than expert analysis out the way so bring on the test match.

A short interruption from Just Stop Oil protestors with young Johnny Bairstow lifting one of them all the way off the ground and had to change his gloves for the orange powder he got on them

Put me in mind of a game way back which was eventually abandoned due to a protest

Decent start for Australia before first rain break. Pitch not so helpful to bowlers perhaps.

Meanwhile less people saying Foakes should play instead of Bairstow.

Regarding teams Starc was always coming in though England batted Boland out of the team.

England having to play Tongue because Stokes can't bowl 30 overs.

England obviously felt it was a hard batting track but Australia have batted well. Smith will be a hard man to get out and Head is playing with the freedom of an Adam Gilchrist

Great shout that, very similar.

England badly need a wicket here

How the turns have tabled. Where would England be without Sir Joe. Great knock by Head. Still advantage the Aussies, but thowe wickets were desperately needed. Still need to get Smith out though

Curious day. Head and Smith partnership at 6 an over. At times England bowled well. Pitch is tricky and looks to be batter friendly though extra pace of Australia could change that.

I do find it curious the amount of criticism of England are getting. Pundits, fans, commentators. They don't really get what Stokes and McCullum are doing. They are just starting. They beat Pakistan 3-0 away which no one has ever done. Just for one thing.

And Australia are best in world.

Ozball definitely ahead of Bazball so far in the series

300+ after being put in is poor from England

Yeah, agreed. If you’re going to formulate a plan then you have to stick to it, otherwise what’s the point.

It just needs tweaked a little. The declaration in the first test was a touch too early and there’s no point denying that. It was an error.

I suspect the bigger problem for England is that so many of their big names are getting on now.

Think the Aussies will be happy with anything over 400.
