***Kilmarnock V Heart Of Midlothian Official Match Thread***

Hopefully we line up in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. I’d hope for something like:

Clark

Cochrane and Smith (FB’s)

Rowles and Sibbick (CB’s)

Kio and Halliday sitting to work those yards/protect the back 4

Mckay (LW)

Gino (RW)

Snoddy (in the 10)

Shankland (CF)

Kio has looked much better in recent games and Halliday is a grafter (Devlin if fit would have been in this position).

I appreciate McKay has been off it for a bit - but when he plays in his favoured position, cutting in from the left, he can be very dangerous (if he was left out for the likes of Forrest, so be it).

I would be really intrigued to see how Snodgrass does in a 10 role. His range of passing and eye for goal is still there.

And although Gino has done very well up top, we need our top scorer up front.

I don't know as not a medical expert by any stretch of the   imagination. but if Devlin has concussion is it wise to sit on a pressurised aircraft for the best part of 24hrs

Not ITK but Robbie said Devlin was put on a later flight…..quite possibly had a pre flight medical assessment to see if he was fit to fly.

Yes…..I had assumed that because Devlin was allowed to play on after his eyebrow (I think it was) was split, he would be fine when he arrived home.

Me too, they really should be looking after teams players in all games never mind meaningless friendlies.

It looked more like is ear.

Midfield of Forrest,  Grant Kio and Halliday I hope, assuming a 4-4-2

Devlin being out is no big deal. Since he’s our best midfielder for pressing, tackling and winning possession Neilson would’ve probably started him on the bench for Killie away anyway.

In all seriousness it’s a big blow. We really need to do something different on Saturday. Not sure what that is but a midfield of Kio/Snoddy/Halliday ain’t striking much fear into anyone.

I’m mentioned eyebrow as i read that in a news report somewhere………although the pictures do look like it’s a cut above his ear

Where is this 4-4-2 coming from ?

Robbie Neilson plays 3-4-3.

Folk think he’s going to climb down on that at this stage of the season ?

Rather assumed it was post Walker which would have to be John Harvey?

Certainly think Tommy Walker would have thought what is this 4 4 2 shit .

Not that he would have expressed it that way !

If Halliday plays I think I will actually cry 🙁

We need legs beside Snodgrass. We are continually being over run in MF.

Devlin a miss no question.

Surely Robbie must see his 3-4-3 formation has gone flat and needs changed! 🤷‍♂️

An absolute disgrace! Hearts need to sue the Aussies for their flagrant disregard for the health of our player!

Has hardly played in last two months so not that great a miss.  Agree though that a fit and match fit , focussed, Devlin would have been a starter on Saturday.

What they do with ‘their’ player which is what he is when he is on international duty, is up to them. They DO have a duty of care however and they WILL have to compensate us.

Hes never their player really, they cant just do what they want with players where concussions protocols are concerned. When you’re asking guys to travel so far and don't have a plethora of talent you really have to look after them. If they get a reputation for not doing that then clubs might stop taking players or exaggerating their injuries to stop them going away.
We should be asking questions so that they don’t do this again, they’re well out of order considering we did all we could to get Rowles ready for the WC.

You’re having a laugh with Kingsley at CB in a back 4 right?  He’s utter pish there, and will be probably be even worse as the right sided CB.

Do you really?  We’re talking about a guy that thought Kuol and McKay in centre midfield was a good idea against Rangers.  Playing Halliday and Snodrass in the middle would be Pep like genius in comparison to that brainfart.

Plus he’s played them there before hasn’t he?  So if he’s already stupid enough to have done this before why wouldn’t he do it again?  After all he keeps sending his teams out to away games with a system that isn’t working.  He doesn’t learn from his mistakes.

You seriously think they knew he had a concussion AND kept playing him ?

As far as I know, from someone who watched the game, he got a bang on the head first half. the physios came on, did the protocols and all agreed, including Devlin and the referee, that he was fit to carry on. He was then substituted in the 54th minute, not for injury it would appear, but a planned double substitution.

I have no idea when this concussion was diagnosed and who diagnosed it. We’re entitled to ask that question and I imagine we already have.

If we’re not happy with the way he’s been handled we’ll say so, probably privately to the Australian FA. We’re not going to stop Devlin appearing for Australia, that’s completely unfair on Devlin and I dare say he wouldn’t tolerate it anyway.

We do have the right to ask questions. I imagine we’ve already done it and had the answers. Fans can scream

and wail all they want. It’ll have been asked and answered and I wouldn’t expect we’ll be told the outcome, nor should we expect to be told.

Id be more annoyed that Atkinson was taken away for nearly a week and got zero minutes. That’s not on for friendlies IMO. Use him or leave him with us.
