If Holocaust survivors and academics decided to challenge him on his views, then you’d have a point. Since it’s the scum who infest the UK government, I’d say you’re well wide of the mark here.

I’ll assume you mean Alex Scott, the ex-Arsenal Ladies player, and not Alex Jones the Tamworth centre half.

He wasn’t comparing it to the Holocaust ffs.

Lineker is spot on. The government’s tactics are straight out of the facists’s playbook from the early 1930s — dehumanising people, shutting down protest, rampant corruption, etc, etc.

👍

This is probably pretty convenient for the BBC. Lineker has been in the job for 20 years and I'd bet they will be quite comfortable in moving on from him. Now they have their chance.

The Junta and their BBC minions have simply done a sterling job in proving the sentiment of his original observation.

Scum.

BBC citing impartiality is quite ironic.

Two prominent people actually running it with inter alia, a background that includes  prospective Tory MP, a financial Mr Fixit for a Tory PM ( who then appointed him to the job), the ex head of Comms at No10 as a Tory , connections to the right wing gbtv " news" channel. And folk talk about neutrality.

I've honestly had it with this madness,How can people believe anything this government says.

The only possible answer is the majority of the UK population is thick.

This decision by the BBC is going to bite them and Braverman. The scrutiny of other BBC presenters, by the left wing and independent media is going to be relentless.
Like him or not, Lineker did not compare the government with the Nazi regime of the 1930s and 1940s. He expressed concern at similarities between the narrative of Braverman to the kind used by the Nazis, in the 1930s, demonising a group of people to stoke up fear and violence towards those people for political gain. We’ve already had the idiots, who soak up the kind of language Braverman has been using, attacking accommodation being used to house the migrants meantime.
Maybe if Braverman concentrated on getting her asylum claim procedure managing to process more than 1 a week, whilst the waiting list has reached 160,000, the situation would be remedied without all of the acrimony that she seems to revel in.

Yep. This will hurt the BBC more than it will Lineker.

And, although not as important, won’t be surprised to see some football clubs banning the BBC for a while.

This week, scholars and a holocaust survivor did just that. It’s important we listen to them, rather than downplay that as it’s extremely serious.

If the government don’t want to be compared to Nazi’s, then maybe they should stop behaving like them? 🤷‍♂️

I will note, the above is all very much shed territory, but back on topic, the BBC are a total relic full of dinosaurs. It’s no wonder so many happily dodge the license fee.

Like or loathe Gary Lineker, it's truly frightening that he's been removed from the BBC by the government over a factual tweet. They've only gone and proven his point by doing so.

Scary times.

You've made a bit of a jump to bring the Holocaust into it.

In global terms the BBC have a problem they probably haven't realised or understood.

Lineker, Wright, Shearer are in demand to present and commentate all over the world. Non of them need the BBC.

Some of us forecast this years ago.  The degradation of standards of conduct and the values of democracy,  scrutiny,  free speech.

They continually push the boundaries and are incrementally emboldened to be more and more authoritarian.  They are not very far away from being the fascists they were described as behaving like.

It is genuinely worrying how much of a fascist, right-wing toilet the UK is these days.

A race to the bottom that seems to be picking up momentum.

I'd suggest the ones so vehemently arguing that there are no comparisons there don't really know much about Germany prior to June 1944.

It's the continued suppot of them and the excuses made for them and the sheer ignorance of them that is scary.

This is how fascism comes through the front door.  Welcomed in with an embrace.

They're quite far down the line. As you say, they've been picking away at it for years.

Why the feck does a Sports presenter need to be impartial on his personal twitter feed? A political presenter fine (you can criticise politicians and edit the Spectator fine though) but this is just an orchestrated outrage campaign to deflect attention from another grubby Tory policy.
