We were dining and then sitting in the bar drinking cocktails last night.  A very enjoyable experience all round.

Apologies for not reading through whole thread, but have they added a bar in the skyline lounge? Been a few times a while ago and it was always table service.

There is a small bar area up at the Gorgie Road end of the Skyline now.  Very comfy sofas there.

Cheers Dave, that imo was the only downside of the Skyline. Somewhere to have a drink before or after meal. 👍

Stayed in the plaza room last night. Had a few bevvies in the bar area of the skyline and had the 2course dinner. Food was beautiful and big pat on the back to the staff really nice and friendly. Breakfast i really enjoyed got the full english really enjoyed it. What got me was though sitting on the sofa at the bar around 11 oclock last night thinking how far we have come its fecking unbelievable. The place is beautiful. The room as well we had 205 was beautuful nice view onto the plaza. If you can afford a night there give it a go its something i will never forget. Its something our neighbours can only dream of.

I know it’s a wee bit of a novelty for us hearts fans and, with the exception of birthday/anniversary treats etc, we’re unlikely to be having regular stopovers in the hotel.  I wonder how many non hearts related people have stayed in the *hotel so far.  It’s not quite touristy season yet (although there are a fair few early explorers up this way), but I’m sure it will continue to grow.

The restaurant is likely to be a far more repetitive experience and, I’m planning on booking Christmas dinner there for me the mrs and the grand skidz……I’ve never eaten out on Christmas Day but I though what the hell, we’ve got the panto Christmas Eve.

* anyone know any hotel staff who could be like errr…….a spy for jkb 🕵️

There was a party of 10 staying last night for a conference. They were from heineken. Not sure how long they are staying but possibly not supporters of our great club. I agree mate it was s one off for us too but checked expedia earlier and same room is 90 odd pounds for a night on tuesday till wednesday so no too bad but food is not included. Could always nip round to the gorgie chippie and eat it at the plaza steps.

That's quite encouraging to hear it's expanding on the commercial front too. Financially, you'd imagine it would've made a pretty penny too.

Deffo. Some of them were saying they never even knew there was a hotel there and they were very impressed with the place. Thats the conference folk that said that.

We should try and get a means for guests to be able to see into the stadium imo. Not from the rooms, but some window or bar, or viewing area.

It's a novelty staying in a football stadium but you could be forgiven for not knowing that once you're passed reception (which is also an impressive feat). It will attract people for the novelty factor and not being able to see the pitch etc is probably a bit disappointing. My girlfriend really wanted to see it when we stayed surprisingly.

I thought the same.

There must be an entrance at Skyline level (used for corp) that could be taped off, just to give a view? 🤷‍♂️

I thought the same as well. My partner was also hoping to see the stadium.

Did it occur to anyone to ask to see the stadium ? Always found it useful to ask these type of things when I’ve wanted something from a hotel.

Yes, but as you'll know there's nobody on the hotel reception so it felt a bit OTT to ring down to the main reception.

Also sort of missing the point. It's not someone's job to be showing people around ad hoc and they'll have other things to be doing (their jobs most likely), but an area you could buy a drink with a view of the stadium interior is a likely money spinner rather than money drainer.

Taking the plus one for a trip to Edinburgh later this year, and building it around a Hearts match once schedule released.

She seems fine with staying at Hotel for match night, but for other nights her response was just sending me a lot of City Center hotels. I'm countering with it seems like a bus runs straight from Tynecastle downtown, but it's a losing fight.

I imagine the Hotel will make the lion share of its business from Hearts related weekends and holiday spillover.

I imagine/hope future additions to Tynecastle hospitality will have spillover benefits for the Hotel.

I did say that it was a pity there was no access to see the stadium.

Wasn’t an issue for me as I’d just spent the best part of 2 and a half hours watching the game.

You can however book personal stadium tours at £50ish.

A couple disappeared from the hotel lounge only to appear on the tv 5 minutes later at the side of the pitch.
There is a route for those that know😉🤭

Exactly as you’ve said, if you’re visiting a hotel within a stadium and viewing the stadium was something you’re interested you would make a point of finding such things out. Clearly the couple you seen managed it perfectly well. Hearts fans as you’ve said will clearly be able to find ways to view the stadium. Sounds like some people just need a moan or their hand held when visiting places.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had an uptake with the egg chuckers being on recently with folk visiting and staying over. I wouldn't be surprised to see us partner with SRU next year to promote the hotel during the 6 Nations.

I’d hardly call it a moan 🤣

The impression I got was that wandering around the stadium unaccompanied wasn’t going to be encouraged.

I wasn't aware that anyone was moaning until your post. Could you stop moaning about Hearts fans who are only attempting to pass on constructive suggestions to improve the Hotel experience?

The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true!

Beware those tasty cocktails, though, they'll only make you swoon!

10 Margueritas and Martinis would surely make you croon ...

Two nights of excellent food, drink and service. Staff absolutely spot on. I would say that the bed is one of the most comfortable I have slept in. Was given a wee heads up on the pre contract signings of Spittal and Penrice, so moral is book yourself a room and be the first to know about "new signings":levein_interesting:

We enjoyed a great stay last Sunday.  Beautiful meal, this added to the new lounge area in the Skyline made it a really relaxing evening.  Rooms really modern and fresh so no complaints there.  The breakfast, like others on here was a tad disappointing.  Service was poor and porridge (inedible) came after the fried breakfast 😍
