The hospitality seats in the Gorgie stand would also be a clumsy offering if you had to walk from the Gorgie Suite to the Wheatfield.

That’s a good point.

It's about speed of evacuation. If something happens, you want to get people out there as fast as possible. 500-1000 people take roughly the same amount of time to move out no matter how long they've spent there. Getting 20k people out of a stadium quickly and safely is considerably harder.

That's the essence of our problem with the COMAH regs.

Now that makes sense.. cheers

Safe standing is intended to make areas of the ground where people currently insist on standing, despite the best efforts of the club, into a safer standing environment.

This sounds awfully like lower N and possibly Lower G.

A hotel on the 2nd floor it is.

https://www.heartsfc.co.uk/news/article/main-stand-development

Heart of Midlothian can confirm that plans are well underway for the exciting development of the Main Stand second floor at Tynecastle Park.

The club is applying for planning permission for the development of a 22-room boutique hotel, additional hospitality lounges and conference & event space within the second floor.

The hotel rooms and additional conference & events space will give us a unique opportunity to host more events at Tynecastle and also appeal to the millions of visitors that Edinburgh attracts each year as the UK’s second most visited city.

The club has taken time to consider all available options relating to the second floor and we believe this project will provide the best platform to support our ambitious growth plans both on and off the pitch.

We will update supporters on timescales as the planning process stage progresses.

Definitely, especially around festival time!! A license to print money! 😂

Really good news! Hopefully the council are fine with it.

Can't imagine permission will be an issue given the building is already built. All internals.

22 rooms in a row.

All named after something in the respective games?

I'll take Room 2 please, Musemic's Manor.

How long does the council usually take to decide on these applications?

As long as it takes to fill a brown paper bag 🤭

Apart from the fact that the folk in the Gorgie stand might not want to move.

Surely not a big issue given they'd surely be moving to a far better seat in the main or wheatfield?  Or do people prefer sitting behind one of the goals? Just do lower for lower and upper for upper swaps it's the people moving to the standing sections that would be more likely to think twice.

Gorgie / Fountainpark and bridge are already over run with student accommodation The area is losing its identity really. Sad times. Particularly when there are record numbers of homeless on the waiting list for housing.

Hopefully more student accommodation means more takeaways and convennience stores. Gorgie is seriously lacking in those.

More pish, homeless figures are the lowest they have been for at least 30 years.

Have you ever posted a fact on this board?

Would they? likely N or G as that’s where the spare capacity is like to be. Some folk do like being behind the goals.

Generates money all good, no point in space lying empty.

Great idea from the club. Hotel/apartment rooms are in very high demand at the moment, especially looking at prices.

Could be a decent earner for the club as well as a reputation boost

The problem with your stat is that it does not show the lack of housing stock and more people and families waiting longer to be housed or moved into private lets, which due to the cost can be prohibative for people moving on.

Sorry also meant to add that a lot of Local Authoriites now instead of taking homeless applications do a housing options meeting. This looks to assist to move people into private lets, it can again in some cases skew the homeless figures.

Sounds like this will be a good use of space… lucky for us we have enough space available to do this…ideally we should have had a plan for the space before they built the stand.

Absolutely but the point I was responding to was that "there is a record number of homeless on the waiting list for housing" which is just not true.

Does it? A person in a private let isn't "homeless", they might not be in a local authority home but they're not homeless.

What i am saying is that instead of taking a homeless application they are passed through housing options so there initial homelessness does not show on homeless figures.

What is a "boutique hotel" anyway?

A term for something that is small in capacity but high on price.

Its not one for those who normally book a Travel Lodge or Easy Hotel.

169 euro a night and very nice indeed.

Pity I only managed to spend 5 hours in it.

That doesn't make sense mate, yes they go through the options team but at that stage they are only threatened with homelessness not actually homeless. The options team is all about homeless prevention.

Sinbad the Sailor

I've stayed in the hotel at Blackpool's ground. It wasn't boutique but certainly a decent grade and had the Mrs' approval

The players (Gnando was one) came in for breakfast before training and I watched a Spurs game in the bar with a few of them on the Sunday. Some memorabilia around the place and smart deco. Hearts on a winner with this.

Everyone threatened with homelessness should have a homeless application taken alongside housing options
