Small tweaks to the stadium could give us a lots more seats made available.

1, getting rid of the second tunnel in the Wheatfield stand and putting back the seats +50

2, restricted views in the new stand section T, move the aisle right next to the cable end, gaining +26

3, Gorgie stand sections below the hospitality area has a double aisle below it that’s not required x2 gain + 24

4, move the new dug outs closer to each other, losing an aisle closet to the tunnel +40

5 ,top of the Wheatfield housing radio commentary, build something within the floodlights similar to the police box + 10

Gaining 150 seats at least

6, Nets between section N and Section G from the Roseburn would stop the need for empty seats as Dave suggests

hopefully this makes sense,

with europe this year it would be an ideal time to introduce the changes and increase the capacity,

🇱🇻♥️🇱🇻

Point 2 is a no brainer and seems so obvious to me (I will admit to having never thought of it though).

Potentially not possible as the length of row of seats in a venue is limited by how many seats you can be from an aisle. Though having said that the sections at Tynecastle are quite narrow and I’m not sure of the number for a sports venue.

You all know it’s great to talk about the expansion of our stadium and its ok but the first priority has to be getting a team on the pitch that has thousands more fans clambering to attend games at Tynecastle week in week out. We could have a stadium holding 25,000 but what’s the point if we can’t fill these seats. Our leaders need to prioritise  the team because even when we reduce the Old Firms allocation we aren’t selling out our seats and that will only happen with our team challenging for the league title.

That's exactly what's happening mitch, surprised you haven't noticed!

Just my opinion in general but not connected to the particular issue of Tynecastle and my bias towards Hearts , but I think areas become more vibrant and enjoyable socially when there is a big student presence ……………… but Hearts trump that so I’d rather what ever is best for us

What percentage of students live in private rented accommodation compared to dedicated student accomadation?  More are getting built because there is demand for them.

You could be right but l have heard and lve no idea if it's true or not, that builders get funding/subsidies for building student flats compared to ordinary flats/houses and that's why so many are springing up. The builders can then sell them at inflated prices 5 years down the line as ordinary flats.

Students moving from private to student flats frees up rental properties for non students.

I no longer move in those sort of circles these days but when I was a young man I loved going out in areas that had a big student population because it was always a better night out ……………. my local pubs were always shite and rough which I was fine with but any one who prefers that to fun and vibrant is a bit mental in my opinion 😄

Really hope planning permission is rejected. This will have a detrimental impact on the potential for future expansion plans. Hopefully if the club can find a reason to object, it can get tossed.

Sick to my back teeth of every square cm of land getting turned into ****ing student accommodation.

See Dave’s post, this is why Student accommodation is required. Edinburgh 100% needs more student accommodation, whether that should be at Tynecastle is another point entirely.

Certainly not something that should be viewed positively for the clubs future at Tynecastle. Will be landlocked and have additional constraints even if not.

Sick of the sight of constant student flats. They've been throwing them up for years, and about the only thing that changes is the bank balance of the clowns that think we want more. Rents are still unaffordable and will remain so.

It seems filling the corners is too expensive but wonder if there is a potential hospitality option to be explored there

Does anybody have an idea as to how the flat developers of the old Tynecastle School building are getting around the Health and Safety regulations that apply to the distillery's ethanol storage tanks?  Are they using the changes made when the new Tynecastle stand was built to act as a precedent?  Must be more than that as flats have a 24/7 occupancy as opposed to a football stadium which is, maybe, used once or twice a week.

Late reply but it's mostly down to how quickly you can evacuate the area in case of an incident. 200 people are much easier to evacuate than 20,000 no matter when the event happens.

In addition to the ethanol and the need to acquire land to expand, which is likely £4m up front or more before a construction or demo vehicle ever pulls up to the stadium, construction costs are currently obscenely high, even compared to other inflated prices.

Shame we couldn't have added another 1000 to the main stand when we had the chance. There's loads of space back there that hasn't been utilised.

I think any future expansion should factor in a new roof design which could open the opportunity to fill the corners.

We obviously have to see if the sales can be consistent next few years and if we constantly get group stages in Europe then it will have to be looked at. The rebuild of the wheatfield would be a huge investment, with all the external land costs etc.

would be fantastic but the cost ooooft

The new lighting system ensures that Tynecastle Park is ready for the future. New four-way TP&N 100 Amp distribution boards have been added to the stanchions upon which the lights are fitted. With the new distribution boards and the spare space on the floodlight gantry, Heart of Midlothian have the ability to add more lights to accommodate changing regulations or have the ability to install specialist lights and management software to enable the light shows common at many large stadiums.’

I was led to believe the new lights don’t allow us to play in the group stages so need to be improved already. It strange why we didn’t go for 1200 lux which would help us get SFA platinum accreditation. I’d guess if we are upgrading the lights we add a light show at the same time.

Yep. Current pylons pretty much are only good for holding up the roof. Remove the roofs and create new ones cantilevered from behind the stand / corners.

Not sure we would mess with the main stand so soon but the gorgie / wheatfield and wheatfield / roseburn corners could be done initially.

Do you mean unused land in the Plaza? If so then there may be a lot of extra space at the Roseburn end but the Gorgie end is already very close to the flats behind.

Needs to be 1400 luxs for Europa League Group Stages, not sure about Conference League but we currently only have 800 lux or did at the end of the season not sure if that’s changed.

What's everyone's views regarding opening up Tynecastle for gigs etc?

Obvious concerns over pitch condition as we have seen from Festival events in the past but not sure how the current pitch would hold up for example. Would the benefits outweigh the negatives?

Easter Road had previously been used for gigs and a 20k stadium venue in the capital might appeal to a lot of promoters.

For what it's worth it would be as popular a venue for music as it would for football IMO.

Libertarian

Our capacity Is at least 5,000 seats too small which is lost income. Hearts should be looking at all realistic options to increase the capacity of the stadium. The population of Edinburgh and the south east is increasing rapidly and apparently Edinburgh will become Scotland's biggest city by 2037, only 15 years away. The club is now being run properly and we should expect to qualify for European football most seasons. If we don't try to improve the capacity it displays a lack of ambition and I feel that all the signs show that we should be ambitious.

Yeah, I'm imagining some kind of curved design to account for the gorgie road side. Might not have looked all nice and symmetrical but the extra seats would have been worthwhile.

Could be a nice little earner for the club.

It's not easy to find out how much promoters pay. I did see that Sunderland made £2m from Take That gigs at the SOL. At approx half the capacity then we could maybe bring in half that income on occasion. Complete fag packet you understand but it's be something to think about.

Am sure it read it on here that you get planning permission to build Student flats pretty easy. You only need to keep them as Student flats for 12 to 24 months then you can sell them for more money as proper flats. Its basically a con for developers to make many and get easy planning permission.

Nothing to do with the design. The council put a limit on the capacity because of the tanks in the distillery. This has been pointed out on numerous occasions.
