I thought the 200M was declared a dead heat in Moscow 1980?

It was exactly the same as what happened today.

I think in 100m both Wells and the Cuban were given the same tine, but gave Wells the gold.

When did Italy become sprinters?!

I'm actually quite stunned by that...

As has been mentioned Pietro Mennea won the 200m at the Moscow Olympics in 1980.

Mennea held the World record of 19,72 for the 200m which he had set in September 1979, in fact that record stood for 17 years until 1996 when Michael Johnson (BBC pundit) broke it.  Indeed 19.72 is still the European record, and has stood for the last 42 years.

It was the 1982 Commonwealth games in Brisbane when Wells and Mike McFarlane shared the gold medal

Modern Pentathlon just nuts where you have no choice over a horse yet all the other events are an individual skill

Truly luck of the draw can cost you a medal given you can get a right donkey or two in the showjumping

Prime example of you can be the best but only as good as your horse, car etc

Maybe time to ditch the nags and get them on motorbikes?

Allan Wells - Was an hero as a kid. Sad to hear him get accused of being juiced, but then I guess they all were in those days. Nobody can get near the women's 400m and 800m times from back then

There used to be a huge debate in the late 70's & early 80's about who was the faster, Allan Wells or George McNeill.

It was rumoured that there was a large amount of money for the winner, if they could ever get the two to race, which Wells seemingly always refused to run against McNeill, especially after he was Olympic champion.

My money would have been on McNeill to win, by christ that guy was fast, had the misfortune to run against him a couple of times, that was a complete mis-match, more like the tortoise & the hare , at least feeling like being a tortoise was what it felt like when McNeill flew past you, how anybody could run that fast, I'll never know.

Arguably the fastest man in the world in his day.

The 4x100m events where pretty exciting earlier today. A bronze and silver for Team GB.

Delighted for Laura Muir also who got a silver.

Paula Radcliffe.
What a dull and boring pundit! She made a great woman’s marathon a feckin snore fest by her ramblings

She tries to say to much and as you say it just sounds like she's rambling.

Bloody hell what a race format the Madison is. Well done GB getting silver. I thought they'd blown it which just goes to show I know shit about cycle racing.

6 teams could have won  it at the end.

Denmark did well and the medal winners did brilliantly to stop the lap overtakes.

Yeah I was thinking "take a breath" during the women's 1500 yesterday.

Here's a question, why don't they just do the show-jumping first in the modern pentathlon so people don't waste their day?

Overall the show jumping has had the drama.

Coach kicked out for this

Be surprised if the horse even felt that.

That French grey Quel Fillou 13 was a crazy horse. Shaking its head around after every jump yet cleared them by miles!!!

Switched away from BBC.

More time in the studio waffling.

Watching all the womans high jump and mens javelin.

Because no GB medal threat, they dont show it.

They showed both - high jump was a bit interupted, javelin was just highlights TBH
