Hibs have been shite recently but are still comfortably third. We really need to grab that league by the baws next season.

Aberdeen 2 0 down with 15 mins to play and some players just walking around,   Taking their time.   I’d be absolutely livid at this display if I was a Dons fan.   Look very poor.

FT at Arbroath

There is no way full time Dunfermline should be getting beat from part time Arbroath.

Stevie Crawford out.

Change of scenery he would be a fantastic appointment for any club in Scotland apart from Rangers now.

his football style is dire though. He’d be perfect for a Kilmarnock or St Mirren

He's like a more effective version of Levein. No thanks.

He became Aberdeen manager 8 years ago next month. And though he has got them 2nd and a number of 3rd places, it still feels he mostly underachieved. Last few seasons have shown the limitations of how he is playing. The fact he subbed on McLennan who he has just given a new contract after 7 minutes for an injury then subs him in the 59th minute, hardly a way to build a young players confidence, raises question marks on him.

Perfect fit to take over from Javk Ross at Hibs.

Lost his spark a long time ago,  really he wouldn't, Aberdeen fans have seen him far enough for long enough. Total lack of enthusiasm and entertainment

Why would they change their manager sitting third in the league?

He is a better manager than Ross.

Apart from today he gets the better of him. Aberdeen are 2-1 ahead in their league meetings this season.

Aberdeen have a similar hold over Hibs as we do regardless of managers.

Scottish football really has a lack of imagination though in general. It's always safe and rarely daring, more about motivation than anything else bar budget

Saw someone defending McInnes saying look how Aberdeen have done compared to Hearts, Hibs and Dundee United in regards to top 4 finishes. Considering Aberdeen have the 3rd biggest budget and over McInnes time at Aberdeen he has had a few seasons without any of these teams and Rangers in the league through to various issues and his first full season where Hearts had admin, Hibs had a mental implosion and Rangers were in League One, they still finished behind Motherwell.

I think McInnes has only had one decent to good season when the league has been back at some sort of full strength - 2017/18 when they finished ahead of Rangers, who were just starting to get back to some sort of strength that season. Since then he's finished behind Killie and Motherwell, and could easily finish behind Hibs and Livvy this season. In the cups, one LC win is a very poor return.

McInnes has a 54% win record there which is the highest since Ferguson's 59%. If they empty him and get in a cheaper replacement chances are they go back the way. Would placate their fans in the short-term which is probably their immediate concern.

It's good but it's not Robbie Neilson good. Would be interesting to see his win record broken down into two eras - a full strength league (2017/18 - now) compared with a very understrength league (2012/13 - 2017/18)

58% in the under strength league, 49% in the full strength. Though if you take the last two seasons it is 42%

Adds to the case that he's been a solid manager but not one able to take all the chances they've had to win cups and push Celtic closer, not to mention doing very little in Europe despite all the opportunities.

What is Robbie’s win rate in the Premiership?

Over 47% which is very good. Feel free to compare with other managers in their first season and a half managing at that level.

So actually nowhere near as good as McInnes then! And his win record at MK Dons?  If you’re going to compare McInnes’s win rate against lower league managers you might as well compare him against the Queens Park manager, it’s just as pointless a comparison.

Why are we only allowed to compare the first season and a half?  Surely a win rate based over several years is a much better, bigger and more accurate sample?  McInnes has done it consistently over the last 8 years, something that is much harder to do than over 18 months and something no Hearts manager has done in my lifetime.  How often have we finished top 3 back to back over the last 50/60 years, let alone the odd runner up spot?

Still a poor return in terms of trophies though but Aberdeen fans like to live in the 80’s and these times will never return.  We’ve never lived through a recentish successful period like that though and probably explains why so many of our fans are so accepting of mediocrity.

You asked the question? What relevance has RN's record got to the discussion about McInnes's record other than to tee up an opportunity for you too have another needless dig at Neilson and fellow Hearts fans, while at the same time talking up the manager of a rival club?

It's kind of hard to compare RN's 8 seasons with Hearts given he's managed us for less than 2. But again, you were the one who asked the question.

In answer to this - "How often have we finished top 3 back to back over the last 50/60 years, let alone the odd runner up spot? "

The last manager to do that for us was Craig Levein. The one to get nearest to it since and who was almost certainly heading for that was Mr Neilson.
