Absolutely delighted to hear this news, a true 'Hearts man !'

Like thousands of others, will never forget '98,'

I know a lot of supporters will say the '5-1' final is their favourite, but to those of us who were there in 98, that was 'THE ONE !'

Glorious result, Glorious day, Glorious celebrations !

Welcome back Jim !

ps,  Excellent statement from 'EC',

Wish them all the best. ( Edinburgh's second team ! 😀)

His biggest asset was his eye for a player and getting the best out of his staff . Another step in the right direction after Robbie and Craig

Just seen the news.

Absolutely fantastic! Just the kind of figure the club needs around the place.

Cup winning manager on board - check

Cup winning former club captain in goals - check

Cup winning former captain in defence - check

Cup winning former captain and title winning manager in dugout - check

Happy with that.

"Jim has agreed to join us for 6 months, on a part-time basis, to give Ann and the Board advice and guidance on a range of footballing matters.  Jim will work closely with Ann during the transfer window, which has now opened, to help make the changes to the squad that Robbie feels are needed."

I'd say thats the DOF role... 😀

I would agree. DOF without the ultimate say in spending/recruitment but pointless having an advisory DOF if you don’t take his advice.

Advice is advice. It’s used to help someone in authority make a decision. Advice can be accepted and acted upon or it can be considered and rejected.
If you are saying everything JJ advises has to be done then basically he is in charge. Then maybe JJ will need an advisor to help him.

Well it’s not going to be a Levein type situation where JJ rules the roost and what he says is what happens, but he’s been asked to advise because of his experience and stature in the game and particularly with our club. If he advises that a player isn’t signed, I expect that advice to be followed. If he advises a player is a good fit, in conjunction with Robbie agreeing, I expect us to progress on that advice and try and sign the player.

Bring Back Paulo Sergio

Nice to have a role for him but not entirely optimistic about him being involved with identifying players to sign.  Can't be worse than Levein and John Murray so that's a huge positive. Welcome Home JJ.

Advisor to the board. Happy about this

Knowing JJ he could even be doing it for nothing.

Happy with this. I still think JJ is not the right man long term for the sporting director role, but as an advisor in the short term he is useful and wise descision to get him advising the board on football matters in the meantime

Correct.

A Shoreditch Heart

that's such great news - even if he's just there for a part time / advisory role, it just really good to have his positive presence back at the club 🙂

I think he did better with freebies and cherry picking talent from the lower leagues. When he was given bigger money towards the end of his time the result was players like Petric.

Good to see PHMs being installed across all departments, essential to carving out the way forward. The last piece of the puzzle? JJ to pick up the phone to Dunbar United and Troon FC let’s get Blackie and Stevo signed.

But in all seriousness, what a delight to welcome Jim Jeffries back to the club. In JJ we trust.

FWIW all this “brings a tear to the eye” is a bit pathetic in my opinion :peepwall:

Not at all. Levein was DoF, JJ is advising the Board for six months until things settle down. Won’t have any input to first team.

If Robbie doesn’t seek JJ out for advice then he is a fool. The man is a

wealth of knowledge. Thankfully can’t see Robbie not going to JJ

Welcome home to a total and utter legend l.
