I think you've got the correct theme but are going more leftfield with your suggestion. If I'm right, you're going "sampled" when I've gone "inspired by" or "nicked shamelessly from".

This may also be the case with Two Tribes being nominated by @JWL

Would Lady Lynda by The Beach Boys fit?

S Club 7 - Natural ?

Still haven't a clue on JWL's

It's a bit fiendish to be fair. You really have to look at the lyrics of each song.

Lady Lynda by the Beach Boys was my first (correct) nomination when I was set this same teaser. Well done!

I could give one more which should obvious-ify it...presuming I actually have got the correct theme!

A bit fiendish.  :cool_shades:

If I've got this right it's almost impossible. Would never have got close, without your clue..

......Alejandro by Lady Gaga ....  ?

I've REALLY looked at them, and at Boof's two confirmed suggestions and there's absolutely nothing coming out at me.

Given how few lyrics there actually are in Message in a Bottle or Sugar, Sugar, that's quite something.

I'll have to give it a break and revisit once I've got some proper work done this afternoon!

Ha ha, had to check the lyrics and yep, Alejandro by Lady Gaga does indeed fit the bill. Good one though eh? I've been doing these for my team every Friday since lockdown. Think they will line up one by one to strangle me when I'm back in the office.

Got it. Thanks Boof.

Next one I come up with, I'll try very hard to make it one that Rush songs are all over. Just for you!

Need to find one more song for this one, though.

Edit: and, in no time at all, I've got Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.

I kinda like the idea of quoting the original question and also emboldening the artist - title part of any answer one gives.

Yep - 'twas indeed a good one.

Here's another ..'til IPK gets his head around a Rush related link.

What links the following three songs ?

As before, don't state the link; just add to the list.

David Bowie - Starman

KT Tunstall - Suddenly I See

Higher and Higher - Jackie Wilson

Fairly easy..and nothing from Rush fits the bill.

I also found that Can the Can by Suzy Quatro would fit the bill. And, for exactly the same reason, St. Elmo's Fire by John Farnham (if that was the guy's name - John Farr? John Parr?)

Only easy if you know the answer. Fairly stumped with this one.

You Can't Alweays Get What You Want - Rolling Stones would also be on the list.

Linked by association with an event, not by lyrics or band.

Ha! This was a theme I was working on but got sidetracked into trying to get something where songs by Rush would feature in the answer.

Grease - Frankie Valli

I've been Googling those songs. Very little on Jackie Wilson and the other three are quite disparate in their origins.

Think more a recurring event, where their uplifting melody and messages, might be heard.

I thought these were answers to felix's one and could see no connection whatsoever.

And still stumpulated with that one...can't think of that recurring event.

Have a look for "campaign songs".

Precicely every 4 years since JFK in 1960, sporadic before that,  therefore "usually" every 4 yrs

I had no idea there was such a thing as Presidential campaign songs. Looking up Wiki, there are a few weird and wonderful ones in there. Interesting that the candidates don't seem to have to seek permission of the artists/composers, though.

Two thirds of them are correct answers to Felix's last theme :D

Yeah, I thought it was fairly interesting.

The Stones didn't like Trump taking one of their tunes, but then again who would - Ted Nugent maybe . :rifle:

I'm adding Bruce Springsteen - Philadelphia to that list with some degree of confidence.

I think your confidence is well placed but that's not quite the full name of the song I had in mind

D'Oh!! I'm as a big a Bruce fan as almost anyone (top 20 per cent at least) and doing this pains me almost as much as if I'd referred to Dave Mackay as David McKay.

Streets of Philadelpia, of course.

I'm also going to add Just the Way You Are - Billy Joel and pose you a poser.

Taking your three and my two, Willie Nelson and Bruce differ from the other three in one (related) regard. Do you know what it is?

Those two fit the bill very nicely indeed.

I must be seriously overthinking these as I'm stumped here. I feel I'm not allowed to post my next couple until I've got this one.

Boof's is more to do with facts about the song rather than the content of the lyrics.

I don't know whether that helps

Doesn't really but as I say, I'm probably over thinking things. Don't want to google as I feel I should know.
