Took me way longer than IPK's one - I thought it was difficult but then I'm not much of a Floyd fan.

Confirmed via PM that Mission by Rush is okay :D

Yup, thought it was fairly tricky - and I thought I knew JWL's first 3 songs fairly well, and same with Brain Damage, but never saw the link 'til late.

Good one.

Here's another (I hope) :- Washington Bullets by The Clash

Ah, I get it now.

Spoiler

I thought the link was the songs were lyrically talking to someone thus my choice of Never Ever.

Now I’ve worked it out I propose Remake/Remodel by Roxy Music.

Fits mine. Not a song I know, though.

There must be a lot that fit my theme. La Marseillese would be another.

Give it a listen and you’ll probably recognise it, and even if you don’t you get to hear a great song.

One last, heavy clue to help you along.

First, have a sing along with Around the World by Daft Punk. By all means print out the lyrics so you don't make any mistakes.

Then pick any of the following songs - whichever you feel you know best and do the same.

* Bohemian Rhapsody

* Baba O'Riley (which is definitely NOT called "Teenage Wasteland" - that's an ignorant American thing)

* Unchained Melody

* Smells Like Teen Spirit

* Sympathy for the Devil

* Space Oddity

Now, what's NOT happening in those songs that definitely does happen when you sing the lyrics to Around the World?

Can't just give it away. We've worked hard for this one.

The next one might not be any easier :(

OK. The last theme - if anyone's still counting - was that each of the songs has a title which is not a line in the lyrics. With most of them, the words of the song title don't appear in the lyrics at all but I went a little flexible when I included Sympathy for the Devil. Well played all players.

Time for another?

1. Black Night - Deep Purple

2. Milk & Alcohol - Doctor Feelgood

3. Naive - Kooks

4. It must've been love - Roxette

5. I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred

6. Stay - Shakespear's Sister

Find me another to add to the list; focus more on the artist than the song. There are certainly fewer to add than there were for the previous theme.

Good luck.

p.s. Nothing by Rush fits the bill.

Anything by Buddy Holly

Okay, easier one. Spot the link between these 3 songs.

1) Up The Junction - Squeeze

2) Made of Stone - Stone Roses

3) Just Like Heaven - The Cure

Last 3 words as opposed to the whole line.

Pfft. Should have said "in" the last line of the song, or the last 3 words, as you say.

Poison Arrow by ABC

Correctamundi (which, I believe, is the plural of correctamundo)

Deacon Blue was near the top of my list but I hadn't thought of ABC which, let's face it, would have been as easy as 1, 2, 3.

This is going to be cruel but I'm going to do it.

Queen could lead you into a correct answer. It's not a correct answer itself, though.

Isn't it the name of the artist is the title of another song? Hence Buddy Holly by Weezer.

I've just been Googling and Mr Big is not only a correct answer but they also supported Rush on tour in 1990.

Very well played.

I'm feeling your pain but "Rush" is not an answer. I promise.

You and JWL are looking at the right thing but the wrong way round.

I'm going to throw more confusion your way.

Don't think Poison Arrow fits - thought it might be The Look of Love (by ABC) 🙂

All those band names are also songs by other groups...

All i can find is that Dr F did a song called Roxette (1st hit single on 1st album)...

Not strictly.  All the songs posted are the linked group's highest selling (or only) UK top 10 single ; so a completely random song doesn't follow the pattern..

Look Of Love  (ABC) or  I'll Never Fall In Love (D.Blue) does .

Splitting hairs I know, but it's lockdown. :smiley2:

**** this lockdown... :lol:

The songs in the OP (OP for this question, that is) are (I think my research has told me) the highest chart position for that group. Then when there were 2 Deacon Blue answers and anything by ABC that theory was blown out of the water.

Just you wait until I think of a question where every answer is Rush...

I think you're the last man standing.

It wasn't just that the band's title is another song by another artist but that the band has named itself after that song.

Roxette called themselves after the Doctor Feelgood song; Doctor Feelgood named themselves after a 1960's blues track; ABC named themselves after the Jacksons' song; Deacon Blue after a Steely Dan song; Kooks after the Bowie song; Right Said Fred after Bernard Cribbens' song.

The songs mentioned are, therefore, irrelevant (sorry!)

Others that fit the bill would be Motorhead who named themselves after the Hawkwind song, Motorhead which they then, of course, recorded for themselves, so an answer of Motorhead by Motorhead would have earned double points, as would In a Big Country by Big Country (who, I believe, named themselves after a Talking Heads song and not the film).

So, what Queen track inspired the name of another artist?
