https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/919676/Weekly_COVID19_Surveillance_Report_week_38_FINAL_UPDATED.pdf

This government report has the following for week 37 (page 22)

  • Residential Dwelling: 80.4%
  • Undetermined: 15.4%
  • Care/Nursing Home: 2.6%

Cases by type of residence Table 6: Type of residence of confirmed COVID-19 cases by percentage of total weekly cases

So while Care Homes are higher than other institutions, it's nowhere near the level of transmission in normal homes.

If he wants to be left alone from critics and awkward questions in a pandemic, he shouldn't be in the position he's in.

Is “the dentist guy” the dentist guy that got a Masters in public health from Harvard University?

By institution. Is Households an institution? I doubt it. Therefore the chart means very little without knowing how many cases it accounts for.

Households don't feature at all. If they did, all of the things on that pie chart would be such a thin slither that they'd barely be visible.

Just been for a game of 5 a side with mates, glad we can still go out and socialise.

When you think about it the restrictions aren’t really that bad.  They have essentially just shut down everything that they can’t tax.  If you are willing to spend a bit of money you can still meet up and play sports, go to pub etc.  It’s not all bad 😎

It would be interesting to know when the deaths were originally infected.

It's deaths in all settings. People in care homes will die fairly quickly after being infected I would guess

Seriously, what a weird attitude. Instead of sounding off, do some basic research.

What you really mean is, you're one of those who aren't convinced that Covid is really that big a deal & until someone puts out data (hard hitting ? - whatever that is) that satisfies you, that's the way it'll stay.

Seriously...is that the best you can come up with to knock a valid and fairly reasonable question i had with regards to where covid death/infection rates compare with other serious and/or life threatening illnesses?? I've afforded you the courtesy of reading the article from the link you posted.  From what I can see, you've posted a link to the effects of covid written by someone affiliated to Oxford University trust. There's no figures, only reference to a study carried out on less than a hundred folk in Beijing who contracted SARS. Infact, it goes on to say the longterm effects to them after contracting SARS was infact minor. It states that study is not comparable to COVID sufferers as the 71 folk studied were predominately under the 45 year age group. I'm struggling to see the point you were trying to get at with regards to me asking where COVID sits in comparison to infections/deaths on other deadly diseases?? For a bit balance, a quick Google search tells me for the years 2015-17, an average of 165000 people died of cancer in the UK per year, so 450 people PER DAY. thats just cancer, heart and circulatory disease deaths are very similar figures at 170,000 a year in the UK.  I would like a bit transparency on how many people had underlying health issues before they contracted Covid? Ultimately, the aggressive nature of the COVID virus most likely killed them off but  when you consider their immune systems were most probably far weaker than the average healthy citizen its no surprise they sadly passed away. A breakdown on age groups too would probably point to the over 65 age group who are on average, more vulnerable to suffering more when catching most illnesses due to weakening immune systems with age. By publishing official figures, that would save me and you submising things and we could all take a view after having the proper facts. There are more and more scientists and health professionals of the opinion that we shouldve all went about our daily lifes as normal (albeit with a bit more caution on hygiene, distancing and socialising) and shielded or at least offered vulnerable category people the choice to shield rather than having a full scale lockdown.  The more this goes on and the more facts and figures are uncovered on this, I am inclined to agree with that view.  I'm no more of a scientist or expert on these matters than you are but I'm no idiot either. When a government advisor clearly breaks the rules that he helped set then has the audacity and arrogance to hold his own press conference to dig a bigger hole for his lies instead of owning up for just being a twat, I have a real issue believing anything the people in charge say as being the truth. There's a few interesting interviews with high profile people floating about out there which you might find interesting to counter balance your blind faith. I dont have Facebook but my wife showed me a video from sky news Australia this morning about an official tearing strips off the government there for the way they have crushed the economy over there and he quoted some very interesting figures for deaths on other diseases compared to Covid. Hopefully you can find it or maybe someone on here who may have also watched it could post a link to it.

This in a nutshell. You're pretty f*cked if you've lost your job though and don't have a penny to your name. Cant even go visit your family in their homes but its OK....if you've got a good mate who will buy you some bevvy you can head to the boozer and drown your sorrows. At least the treasury coffers are still getting some money in 👍 btw, thats no way a dig at your post, I read that in the context I think you meant...and that is your happy you can still do most things like play football with your mates and have a pint if you choose!

A distinct lack of empathy for those who feel the lockdown is a complete and utter nightmare for whatever reasons.

Sorry if this has been covered or posted before. We’re back in a semi lockdown or however you want to word it.

What is the next step? Cases will decrease no doubt with the new restrictions then what? Return to normal and they increase again and then we’re back at square one once more. If the whole worlds hopes are based on a vaccine that may never be found then god help us.

They need to address what the actual reasons are and address them properly.

It seems to me that the politicians won't come clean with their figures because they don't fit their message.  Protect schools and universities and punish everyone else at any cost.

Yea I get what you mean,  I am happy I can go for a pint with mates and play football.  I also totally understand why I can’t meet up at my parents house with my family - the government can’t tax that.

Their policy is really nothing to do with where infection rates happen, they want to try and strike a balance between helping the economy and slowing down the virus - Me sitting in my mates house doesn’t help either.

Cant find the exact video or I would've posted a link but if you find it feel free to post a link (I've spent enough time trawling on my phone and my Mrs is doing her nut as its the kids bedtime 😂)

Put under scrutiny fair enough.

Some of the posts today demonising both Leitch and Sturgeon go far beyond fair and honest scrutiny.

All the UK administrations are trying their best. Instead of demonising people who are trying to help us people should concentrate on following the guidelines otherwise we will have the restrictions in six months time as Boris stated last night.

486 tested positive yesterday, our highest ever daily rate.

Seems obvious to me that face coverings are doing nothing to prevent the spread and the rules should be dropped asap.

certainly should be considered

a branch of the science have been consistent from day 1 that incorrectly worn face masks are potential spreaders - seems the cases have started to rise alongside the rise in use of face masks - we’ve all seen that the majority of face masks are worn incorrectly

hopefully this obvious link won’t be overlooked by the rest of the science
