I'm sure the Scottish Government announced a public inquiry into all aspects of the handling of the pandemic a few weeks back.

I'm sure it was to start ASAP.

100% the right thing to do.

I'd hope the Westminster government will do the same with an immediate inquiry as huge elements of the response fell outwith SG remit.

For openness and transparency both need to happen quickly.

You are sure it was start ASAP ? Lol come on !

According to the announcement it is to start before the end of this year.

Scope work is under way.

There's various sources including the SG website.

Not sure if/when the Westminster one is due to start.

I won’t hold my breath 👍

Think the point is- why on earth were you wasting a Dr’s time with a pulled muscle?

You wonder why there are no appointments?

There are loads.

The issue is they are full.

When the hospitals downed tools 18 months ago, who do you think took up the slack and continues to do so?

Apart from the start of the pandemic we have been busier than ever before ( and it was insufferably busy even then).

Dont believe the govt BS about face to face- they are happening and always were - when appropriate.

We are not “closed” and never were. Ever.

What we are not, is somewhere you can walk in and mill around for a chat , a seat and a long chat with thhe receptionist.

Appointments only- in and out , no hanging about.

Yoi think the phone lines are busy?

Imagine how busy we are for that to be the case.

All out phone lines ring constantly from open to close .

All our staff are knackered and spend all day taking shit from people the hospital should be dealing with, but aren’t .

Hospitals are working below pre pandemic levels. As are the mental health services.

GP’ s are working above prepandemic levels as we are holding the fort for the entire health service.

It wasn't just a pulled muscle, it was that and the the arthritis in my spine that no pain killers were helping with

I didn't phone lightly, I could even move so I had to phone to see if they could help.

Is that not why they are there .

Your profession is terrible went it comes to admitting anything.  It's all face saving and avoiding blame rather than admitting mistakes so we can learn from them.

Reas that Blackbox thinking that highlighted the difference between the medical profession and the aviation industry.

They admit mistakes because they want to learn to make sure it doesn't happen again, while doctors etc do everything they can to avoid blame, even if it means we don't progress.

As the someone in the book said. When pilots make a mistake they die, when docs do we die.

It wasn't just a muscle it was aggravating my other pain.

That does matter if it wasn't included in my post, the key part about receptionists giving an opinion on something she knows nothing about.  Does that help a patient or just least to unnecessarily frustration?

Docs do get the god like complex and are never wrong.

Well... yeah

"Stakeholder views, including the views of those bereaved during the pandemic, will be fundamental in reviewing the suggested approach to establishing a COVID-19 inquiry in Scotland and finalising the terms of reference.

The mailbox will be open for views until the end of September 2021."

The setting up of the inquiry is under way, the inquiry will start after. What are you expecting?

Does the flu vaccine stop us spreading it to others? Should we all get flu vaccinated?

That's in relation to the posts above, not as a comparison with covid. Just wondering if the vaccine works a different way or if the logic would be the same and if so, why do we not do this already?

Flu vaccine doesn't entirely prevent infection and transmission.  Flu has a much lower reproductive rate and rarely becomes widespread enough to be something akin to an epidemic.

Was thinking more along the lines of avoiding giving flu to those around you but thinking about it I also don't even know if you get asymptomatic flu (?) so you'd just stay home

Ivermectin.

Ivermectin is a medication that is used to treat parasite infestations. In humans, this includes head lice, scabies, river blindness, strongyloidiasis, trichuriasis, ascariasis, and lymphatic filariasis. In veterinary medicine, it is used to prevent and treat heartworm and acariasis, among other indications.

The animal version is NOT safe for human consumption.

There's just as much asymptomatic flu as CV.  Perhaps more.  It tends to have a reproductive rate of about 1.3 to 1.5 so doesn't spread as freely.  There's a lot of immune protection against flu so that probably explains the large amount of asymptomatic infections.

Some people take horse tranquilizers as a recreational drug.

The same people won't put an 'experimental' vaccine into their bodies

I read somewhere that the vast majority of flu is asymptomatic. Most people get the virus but don't know about it

That's reassuring that the reproductive rate is lower and offsets the concern of spreading it unknowingly.

Apologies for verging off topic and thanks both for answering 👍

although the people who unfortunately die of flu must catch it from somewhere

until now those numbers must have been deemed ‘acceptable’ - will be interesting depending how the winter pans out (from all health threats) if further protection from other diseases might be encouraged/introduced/mandated

Thanks, I was just wondering as I've never had to make an appointment to get my flu jab, normally it's an open session at my GP's surgery over 3 days a couple of hours each time, but last year it was the surgery that phoned me to 1. Ask if I wanted the flu jab and 2. When I said yes, come down at 11am on Tuesday (insert anyday) and we'll give you the flu jab then.

Teachers union and CMO's looking like they might go against JVCI advice, if you've a kid in this age bracket how do you feel about this? Is it ignoring the science they want us to follow?

I'm a wee bit less sceptical because loads of other countries are vaccinating their kids.

Still got some doubts though.

I'm a wee bit less sceptical because loads of other countries are vaccinating their kids.

Still got some doubts though.

I don't have kids affected here but would be sceptical aswell, reviewing after a couple of months maybe but not a week.

Some people take horse tranquilizers as a recreational drug.

The same people won't put an 'experimental' vaccine into their bodies

I know 2 or 3 folk who regularly blast a few lines at the weekend who are big on the experimental vaccine propaganda.

Happy to fire plant food, rat poison and god knows what else up their beak at any given opportunity but shout from the rooftops about a vaccine designed to save their lives 😂

Vaccines dont get you high/stoned.

Now if they could make one cut with ket/bingo .
