I like leagues that have identities but in Scotland ours seems to be an identity of stubbornness and refusal to change. Our differences from continental leagues have saw us fall behind when it comes to modern tactics, analysis, training methods and fitness. We have leagues full of wee hard men booting players off pitches, hoofing the ball up the park and off the field getting their cheeky wee Nandos and resting on their laurels. Scotland as a footballing nation has now been in decline for decades and when managers like Stendel come in with a new idea they get demonised by the jobs for the boys Scottish media while troglodytes like Tommy Wright get all the praise.
