henryheart
If Preston and Stewart were not controversial it is unlikely that they would be employed by the BBC. Everything therefore has to be black or white - there can be no middle ground, because to be sensible and reasoned will not encourage debate. However, it is all very well being controversial when you have your tongue firmly in your cheek. The first voice I heard when I turned the radio on having got in the car after the game was Michael Stewart. His words were, if I remember correctly, "If Craig Levein was the manager of Hearts they would never have scored five goals today; he would have shut up shop at two..." What appears to be a personal agenda allied to a lack of factual knowledge (eg 4-0 v Celtic), his absolute lack of irony and his conviction that he is right suggests a lack of maturity. I find it all very tiring.

Try not to look at the academy as you do the transfer market but a long term investment. It will start to bear fruit I have no doubt of that. Due to Leveins actions we are now recruiting some of the top talent at a young age. Obviously there is n guarantees but if you start with the best then your odds of producing top talent are much improved. Why was he so reluctant to play these players then??? Mate you telling me that Zannata Mcdonald Cochrane Henderson Keena Moore couldn’t all have been given game time ahead of players like Bozanic, McLean, Mulraney, Whighton and Clare We were losing on a weekly basis and still these players were put on loan and were not given a shot. They would not have done any worse. Levein was all over the place as a manager and now has a made up job until the end of the season. Bozi
Former Jambo Allan Preston believes he should be nowhere near the club as Ann Budge looks for a new boss. Former Hearts star Allan Preston has slaughtered caretaker boss Austin MacPhee claiming he should be nowhere near the club as Ann Budge looks to appoint a new manager and sporting director. fair enough lots of our fans feel this way but let's look at his balanced reasoning MacPhee, before their match against St Mirren, refused to rule himself out of the running for both roles after the sacking of Craig Levein . And Preston slammed MacPhee during an incredible rant criticising his tactics and team selection in the Jambos' Betfred Cup defeat to Rangers last weekend. The 50-year-old claimed MacPhee was 'putting two fingers' up to Levein by bringing Craig Wighton out of the cold for the Hampden clash. however flawed the team setup last week was,it was ha.pered by fitness and availability, I do not for a second he was "sticking 2 fingers up at levein" although, ironically, that might get some fans in here on his side. He added: "Lets go on to the sporting director role. Sporting director will have the overall say at Hearts, he will run the football department from top to bottom. Craig Levein is still at the club. So Craig Levein was Austin MacPhee's boss and now Austin MacPhee, if he gets it, it will be Craig Levein's boss? no,craig levein is nowhere near the team,he is assisting the board (rightly or wrongly) on structure and has NO INVOLVEMENT in footballing matters, it is staggeringly incorrect to suggest MacPhee would be his boss "How is that going to sit? And let me just tell you sporting director brings in the players to Hearts. Lets go with Malaury Martin, three and-a-half-year contract, described by Austin who brought him in as a 'dead ball specialist' So if he is the sporting director at Hearts, I worry if he is bringing in guys like Malaury Martin to the club. OK Martin was a huge mistake,in the very first transfer window he was at the club, since then he has been instrumental in bringing Michael Smith, Kyle Lafferty,Connor Washington,Meshino and quite a few others into the club... and then we have this peach, egged on by Willie Miller the failed chippe owner He said: “Did I hear Austin right when he said that Hearts want to be a consistent Europa League club? What is all that about? “I’m sorry, but you’re talking about a club here that’s in relegation trouble in our top league and you’re talking about that. Come on! Get a life, get real! all real Hearts fans believe this is where we SHOULD be, 3rd biggest club in the country and we should be pushing for a Euorpa league place every single year. This is not the limit of our ambitions but is a minimum expectation at this club,Preston as a Hearts fan should know this and for them to tear into the club and MacPhee for daring to show ambition had ne absolutely furious. Bozi
Let me just add that I don't think MacPhee is the answer as manager but he does have something to offer and I would not be against him remaining at the club. There are other good programmes including Friday Championship live and The Terrace, and now the Hearts inside story. But this jolly, condescending, often negative attitudes is what they have gone with. So take Aaron Hickey and yesterdays game. For me Aaron is a fantastic product albeit its early. A shared success for Hearts and Celtic youth programmes. I don't know what age he started at Hearts. But he started at Hearts so his family and Hearts are due some credit. He was 4 years at Celtic 12 to 16 basically. But he (and his family) chose to go to Hearts. And it was Hearts a year later who chose to play him in the Scottish Cup final at 16 against James Forrest. And now is a first team regular at 17. So that is brilliant. Onto yesterdays game. A great game. 2 sides playing good football looking to attack. First half ebbed and flow. And 2 sides at bottom of league. Surely that was the story. And then how Hearts dominated from 2-2. With 3 players coming back from injury. Probably one of the best games of the season. They could even have taken it as how new manager Jim Goodwin is shaping and developing the side. Finally Austin MacPhee. One thing having met him a couple of times is he is totally passionate about football. Did Sportsound mention, which they should every time they speak about him is he was first choice for the SFA Performance role which Malky MacKay got after Sportsound touted him for every job going. Glamorgan Jambo
Stewart is fairly articulate and his points are and were generally coherent although the chip on his shoulder about Levein shone through to the point that he clearly ceased being objective. On the other hand Preston may care, or may not care, but because he is so inarticulate he comes over as an agenda driven idiot. Presumably he's employed by the BBC because of his Hearts connection but I can think of literally hundreds of former players should could provide the same perspective without the idiocy. Stewart's the worse with his grudge often blinding his better comments as he thinks before he speaks and is calculated ,where as Preston is more a billy Dodds type stuff comes out his mouth before he has often put his thoughts together ,he is less in control of his emotions as Stewart . Listen I get folk are going to be defensive of the club but that shouldn’t make you blind. Differing opinions and criticism is a healthy thing. luckydug
I rarely listen to them. I rarely watch Sportscene I can see highlights of the games on you tube. Why would anyone want to waste their life listening to those phannies. The only Sportscene I can be bothered watching is the Friday night Championship match. I can never work out why anyone thinks we need 'pundits' It's just a jobs for the boys gravy train imo

They see through the charlatans that have been employed at the club for far too long and for me it's absolutely great to hear. Naturally, the 'agenda' crew don't want to hear it. Exactly the same ss they do when either Rangers or Celtic. The pundits are not out to get us. They really aren't.

RobboM
It was almost a feeding frenzy with Willie Miller, Preston and Gordon pre match yesterday. It saying something that Michael Stewsrt comes in with a contribution that is level headed and rational in comparison

Funny that since he picked up a lot of the long crossfield balls that have been going astray for weeks now and worried the hell out of the left back every time the ball was in that part of the pitch. Thankfully, I don't have to listen to this nonsense during the game since I prefer the insight of Jimmy Sandison on Hearts TV. Dear Mr Stewart, We scored 3 goals in the first half. Two came as a result of hard work by Uche on the right wing, and the other...well, it was scored by the man himself. Please go and bore someone about your Man Utd career and leave the punditry to someone who doesn’t have a grievance against Hearts.

I think criticism is a good thing when it is warranted and based on facts. I think there has been a lot of unfair criticism of our club in recent times though, too. There’s been a fair amount of criticism for the sake of criticism on occasion, and that can get in the way of dealing with the real issues that need addressing. Beast Boy
Boy behind me was whining about Uche being out wide and how he should be in the box... seconds before he popped a great ball in to the box. Comedic timing at its best.

Uche on the right was, for me, a great example of giving the opposition something to think about and have to react to rather than Hearts always seting up worrying about the opposition. It worked for me
