OTT
For all the people quoting, Amankwaa, Martin and the like, Souttar was also a punt. Aidy has experience playing at a decent level for a pretty big club. It is a punt but he's far more likely to be able to cut it up here than Martin & Amankwaa who came from foreign leagues. At the moment he's cover and competition for Garuccio, Morrison and Mulraney (Since he can play LB & LM). Have a bit of faith.

the jambo poet
Good luck Aidy. You may need it coming here. He may have had other clubs looking at him offering more money but ob a shorter deal. Maybe this is why we have offered him a 2 year deal. Perhaps security is more important than money for the lad at this point in his career. I recall us signing Neil Macfarlane who was seriously injured at the time and was out for a season or so from Airdrie. He turned out ok. Let's get behind the lad. No danger we’ll be shelling out a lot in wages though, we’ve given him a good opportunity to play again. From his perspective he might feel fit, passed his injury and be looking to nail down that position if he gets his chance. Its late in the season, we desperately needed another Left back and he was one with experience who was available. I’m sure we wouldn’t have signed him if our physios and doctors felt that his injury would mean he’d be on the treatment table all the time. He might prove to be shite or a cripple but he also might be a very solid signing. Time will tell but i’d give the lad the benefit of the doubt and hope he can kick on. Rock ‘n’ Roll star.
Something I haven’t seen mentioned on here is Levein saying he’s been in dialogue with Aidy for a year. That’s bound to make any player feel wanted. If he’s been injury free for a while now, as reported, hopefully he gets himself up to speed for the start of next season and he’s keen to repay the faith shown in him. He might but I reckon we’ll sign another Left back anyway in the summer. Garuccio was originally back up to Mitchell. Given our injury issues, perhaps it’s a good idea to have 3 players in both full back positions., Also, Aidy White can play as a left midfielder or winger as well so there’s no reason why we wouldn’t play both of them. I know it has been suggested he may not be on big money but it seems a bit over the top with a two year deal. Agreed. Just trying to think of a rationale. But as you suggest a one year deal with an option to extend would make more senseven if it cost a little more upfront. I can't believe he would have been hard to deal with given his track record. adambraejambo
If he gets himself fit and injury free he will he our best left back by miles. It's a gamble but worth the risk. Mitchell rubbish in air rubbish positioning and the heart of a mouse. Garrucio is ok in all aspects just does not excel at any in particular. White can tackle, has pace and dangerous going forward from what I remember. Burns I only seen in the league cup games at Tynecastle . Dont know anything about him. Brandom never a left back. Right back maybe. But that's twice he has seen red for elbowing and we know Levein does not suffer fools gladly. Mulraney won't feature much next season. Just be games on bigger pitches when we try and play on the break but even then it will hopefully be as a midfielder.
